Tiffany Haddish knows her food.
In our latest episode of Food Diaries, the comedian and actress imparts some priceless foodie wisdom, from managing hangry mood swings to eating pickles with unconventional add-ons.
“I love a good dill pickle, the big ones that they sell in the big jars,” she says in the episode. Her advice for optimizing a peak pickle experience? “You take a bite off the top part, and then you put a Now and Later or a Jolly Rancher or a peppermint in the middle. When I tell you delicious flavors to savor, so damn good.”

Her dill pickle recipes don’t stop there. “Okay, when I was a kid, not even when I was a kid, last week,” she says, “I let her get the pickle, and then dip it in Kool-Aid powder. Now that sounds like diabetes, but Imma tell you, it feels like success.”
Obviously, Haddish enjoys a good foodie experience. But does she ever get hangry? “Yes, I turn into a different person when I’m hungry,” she says. “It’s not my fault either. I’m a nice person. But it’s the parasites inside of me. When they are hungry and they don’t eat, they take over my mind and I’m pretty mean to everybody. I don’t mean to be though. They just need to know that she’s hangry.”
She echoes a similar sentiment in our March 2020 issue, in which the Girls Trip breakout channels Audrey Hepburn for a Breakfast at Tiffany’s–themed photo shoot. “I don’t mind anybody talking to me, but if I’m eating, that makes me mad because I have a serious relationship with food,” Haddish says in the interview. “When people come over to me when I’m eating, I’m always surprised they’re not like, ‘Tiffany Haddish is an evil bitch.’”
