Radio DJ Adele Roberts was left in tears after watching a video of the late Tom Parker as she enters her final round of chemotherapy in her own battle against bowel cancer.

The Wanted's Tom, 33, passed away from brain cancer in March and a teary-eyed Adele shared an update of her own cancer journey after watching a video of the late star.

Adele, 43, has been candid about her battle with bowel cancer after she revealed her diagnosis in October 2021 and she shared with fans that she wished she could have met the late Tom before his death earlier this year.

Sharing a video update to her 180,000 Instagram followers, Adele said: "So just been to the gym this morning to prepare my body for the…"

The radio DJ was left choking up as she spoke, before she continued: "Sorry, my final round of chemotherapy. I'm just upset because I've been watching a video about Tom Parker from The Wanted.

"I'm just really sad for him that he's passed away but I was just saying on my Facebook page that I wish I could have met him in real life.

"Just to thank him for the strength that he's given me and also all the wonderful people on Instagram who have been good to me and, of course, you Katie."

Adele and her actress girlfriend Kate Holderness, 37, who she affectionately calls Katie, have been open in sharing their journey amid the former Big Brother star's cancer battle.

Kate has been a great support for Adele since her diagnosis late last year, often taking to social media to share updates and candid moments with the couple's followers and fans.

Adele continued telling her followers: "Anyway, hopefully going to pick up my last round of chemotherapy from the hospital today. And what I try and do each day is get out of bed, look after my body.

"It's really suffering now and feeling the effects of chemotherapy so I've been to the gym done a stepping session and I'm gonna walk to the hospital now pick up my final round.

"Hopefully in two weeks time I'll be ringing that bell to say that I've finished chemotherapy, I'll have a scan after that and them hopefully I'll be cancer free.

"Fingers crossed."

Adele's tearful reaction to the late Tom's video is an understandable emotion as many people were left shocked and upset by the star's death.

In October 2020, Tom revealed that he had been diagnosed with an inoperable stage glioblastoma and in March, Tom made a surprise appearance on stage in Liverpool to join his band mates just days before he died.

Just hours after Adele posted the emotional video remembering Tom, she was awarded the Radio Times Moment of the Year gong on Tuesday 3 May for her return to BBC Radio 1 amid her cancer battle.

On her win, she shared: "What a dream?! I cannot believe this! God is good. My legs were jelly last night being in a room filled with so many of my heroes. I could barely breathe. I thought I was going to pass out.

"A room filled with incredible, passionate people who have got me through such tough times and kept me going. Radio is truly a lifeline to so many.
