BBC Radio 6 Music presenter Kelly Jobanputra killed after being hit by train

‘It seems that, whilst the circumstances are not at all clear, this may well have been, in the end, an unintended and tragic accident.

‘Our thoughts are not solely with the devastation to our own family. We also believe the train driver was naturally traumatised and he or she also remains very much in our thoughts and prayers.’

Kelly, previously known by her maiden name Stooke, worked on local BBC radio for 15 years before producing a daytime show for Radio 6 Music in London.

The 39-year-old, who was married to husband Vikesh, also wrote for Swindon Web, the Swindon Advertiser and 365 Bristol, and worked in marketing at the British Computing Society before her death.

An inquest into Kelly’s death will be held at a later date, with her family asking people not to speculate about the cause of her death.

Sadly, the Stooke family suffered tragedy 15 years ago when Kelly’s brother Corrie died from an accidental heroin overdose.
