Carol Vorderman, 60, has reacted after a listener of her BBC Radio Wales show shared they had got engaged, after only knowing their partner for just four days in a surprising on-air revelation. The former Countdown host was left stunned by the admission shared by a Mrs J Butler, who had tweeted in to explain how she knew her now-husband was the one from the first day they met at Butlins, before Carol went on to discuss her own speedy marriage to first husband, Christopher Mather.

Ended in divorce!

Carol was on air fielding revelations from her listeners about their love lives, when one particularly relatable story caught her attention.

Her co-host Nathan Sussex read out a tweet that had been sent in to the programme.

He shared: “We have got a tweet off a Mrs J Butler who says, ‘I met my hubby at Butlins… love at first sight. Met on Thursday, moved in together on the Sunday’.

“Cor you’re quick,” he laughed in response to the message.

Carol interrupted: “Woah, woah, woah!”

Her colleague continued to read: “There’s more! ‘Engaged by the Tuesday, that was 18 nearly 19 years ago. Married on Valentine’s Day 16 years ago’.”

Responding in disbelief, Nathan commented: “God you are a quick mover!”

However, Carol revealed she had her own experience with love at first sight when she was in her early twenties.

She explained: “I did a similar thing when I was 24, ended in divorce.”

Nathan laughed uncontrollably before replying to Carol: “Oh dear!”

She was married to Christopher from 1985 to 1986, before the pair eventually divorced.

The star later tied the knot with Patrick King, and the former couple shares two children together Katie and Cameron.

The pair split in 2000, before Carol went on to date Des Kelly for seven years.

Since the couple went their separate ways, she has kept her romances out of the spotlight and is not known to be dating anyone at the moment.

In an interview with the Telegraph, she revealed: “My happiness doesn’t depend on being part of a couple.

“I’m single and, yes, I am dating. Would I marry again? Honestly, I just can’t see it.

“I am always on the move and I have a pretty low boredom threshold. My happiness doesn’t depend on being part of a couple, I know that.”

She also admitted the thought of sharing a bed with a romantic partner made her feel “positively sick”.

Jokingly her friend and The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins suggested that she should consider striking up a romance with celebrity chef Paul Hollywood.

Carol replied to her suggestion with a simple, but firm: “NO!”
