In October 2022, country music singer Shay Mooney — one-half of the duo Dan + Shay — took to his Instagram Story to tell fans he’d embarked on a major slimdown. “Thank you guys so much for all your kind words about me lookin’ healthy. Really means a lot,” he wrote, adding that it had “been a little over 5 months I believe and I’m down almost 50lbs. For those asking: Eating clean/not drinking alcohol and walking 7 miles a day. And some weights. That’s it! I completely changed my lifestyle and I’ve literally never felt better physically, mentally and spiritually.” Then in December 2022, Shay took to Instagram to share a video that included selfies documenting his impressive weight loss. He captioned the montage, which includes the before-and-after selfies seen here, “It’s weird not recognizing yourself. I got to a place mentally and physically that I will never go again. It matters what we eat. It matters who you spend your time with. It matters what you choose to spend your time on. I’m so thankful for the people in my life that helped me make a change. No one forced me into this. I wanted to change my life for me. I’ve never felt more alive. I’m not looking for mediocrity…let’s go find greatness.”

DailyMail.com reported that when she was 16, Riley (seen here at 17 filming season 12 with her mom in 2019) went from 220 pounds to 168 pounds thanks to five-day-a-week workouts and a healthy diet. “Everybody already knows that Riley dealt with her weight issues growing up in the public eye. People would make comments on her body and say things about her personal look and it really boils my blood,” Kandi told People magazine. “You can deal with anything for yourself, but you don’t want your kids to be bullied online. It’s just really terrible.” Riley debuted another major slimdown in October 2022…

“Vanderpump Rules” alum Brittany Cartwright (seen here in July 2021 — three months after giving birth to her first child, Cruz Michael Cauchi, with husband Jax Taylor) has been open about her struggles to lose her pregnancy weight. “I definitely gained a lot of weight when I was pregnant.  … I definitely gained more than I expected to,” Brittany said on a June 2022 episode of the “Betches Moms” podcast. “I guess because I was on a reality show, people were used to seeing me so skinny and they couldn’t believe how much weight I had gained. People were saying how big I was, that Jax was going to leave me, that he was going to cheat on me…” She eventually partnered with weight loss brand Jenny Craig and started slimming down — keep reading to see her at almost 40 pounds down, and again in a sexy swimsuit selfie after shedding even more weight…

David Harbour underwent a major physical transformation from season 3 to season 4 of “Stranger Things,” slimming down significantly. “My trainer @davidhigginslondon worked with me for 8months to make the transformation, and then another year to keep it through the pandemic. All told it was a difficult and exciting ride, changing diet and exercise plans (or lack thereof),” the 6-feet-3-inch actor shared on Instagram in July 2022 alongside this shirtless “after” photo of himself in character as Hopper (he explained in his post that “the black x’s are for cgi scarring because of problems with the practical effect.”) He continued, “All told I lost over 75lbs. 265-270 in season 3 and all the way down to 190 when we shot.” However, he added, he “recently ballooned up again to play jolly ole st. Nick in a flick I can’t wait for you to see this [2022] holiday season, so I am struggling to fight back down towards a good weight for wherever hopper ends up in season 5. All this up and down is not good for the body, and I’ll have to give it up soon, but it is such a fun part of the job to live in a different version of your skin for a while.”

Comedian Tom Arnold has made some major lifestyle changes — which led to a 75-pound weight loss — after suffering a ministroke in January 2022 (he’s pictured here just days before suffering the medical incident). “The enemy of success for me was spontaneity with food,” he told People magazine, explaining, “Some days I would graze all day, on days I would have to film I might eat 6,000 calories at 9 p.m. after a long day of eating nothing … the problem was there wasn’t any structure.” After suffering the ministroke while giving his two kids their baths one night, “I knew I needed to make bigger changes because I really dropped the ball on self-care these last few years.” Keep reading to find out how he went from 285 pounds to 210 pounds…

_

On July 4, 2022, Tom Arnold took to Instagram to share the results of his incredible weight loss — he went from 285 pounds to 210 pounds — over the previous six months. “Happy 4th of July. Today I’m celebrating my independence from 75 nasty pounds since January,” he captioned this snapshot, adding a thank you to the coach who helped him do it, Charles D’Angelo. The “True Lies” actor told People magazine that Charles helped him realize he needed to put himself first if he wanted a future and also worked to help him change his mindset. “We all know what we need to be doing, but getting yourself to do it can be a different story,” Tom explained. “Having someone in your corner who cheers you on but also calls you out and challenges you is crucial. Charles has been that for me.” Now, Tom eats healthy meals throughout the day instead of consuming all his calories at night or sporadically and has “made exercise a ritual,” he shared. “First thing out of bed each day, no matter where I am, I’m on the elliptical [machine] for 30-60 minutes,” he said. “The kids and I leave for school at 7 a.m., so my morning at home begins at 5:30 a.m. At first, the kids would come out and want to talk, now, they both say ‘Dad has to do this for his mental health,’ so it’s modeling great habits for them. I don’t run to food to escape my feelings or stress any more, I have a plan and I follow it, that’s it.”

Jessica Simpson’s weight famously fluctuated for years as she welcomed three kids with husband Eric Johnson. She credited Weight Watchers with helping her ditch nearly 60 pounds after welcoming daughter Maxwell in 2012, then used WW to slim down again after giving birth to son Ace in 2013. Later, in her 2020 memoir, “Open Book,” she revealed that she had two tummy tucks in 2015. “I wanted to get rid of the stretch marks and loose skin left sagging from my back-to-back pregnancies,” she wrote. Then Jessica got pregnant with her third child, Birdie Mae, in 2018 — she’s pictured here that October — and gained more weight than she wanted to. Keep reading to find out how much she weighed after that pregnancy, how she lost 100 pounds in six months — and to see her in a bikini again at 41 in 2022 in a series of snapshots she posted on social media…

_

In September 2019, Jessica Simpson took to social media to share that she’d shed 100 pounds in six months following the birth of her third child, daughter Birdie Mae. “So proud to feel like myself again,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a photo revealing her progress. Jessica revealed she’d “tipped the scales at 240” pounds but that “even when it felt impossible, I chose to work harder.” She worked with trainer Harley Pasternak, who started her slow on exercise, building up from 6,000 to 14,000 steps a day. She worked out three days a week for 45 minutes a session and followed his Body Reset Diet.

_

Nearly three years after losing her baby weight — and then some — following the birth of her third child, Jessica Simpson shared a photo of herself in a bikini on social media. “I have gained and lost 100lbs 3x so I never thought this moment could or would happen, but I’m finally spring breakin’ wearin’ a BIKINI!!!!!! Hard work Determination Self Love I enjoyed a good proud cry today,” she captioned this swimsuit selfie in April 2022, revealing the results of her years of hard work maintaining her weight loss. Day later, she shared another jaw-dropping bikini selfie…

_

Jessica Simpson continued to post swimsuit photos revealing the weight loss she’s maintained in recent years. She even showed the camera her bare derriere in the last shot!

“Superstore” star Lauren Ash (seen here in 2019) opened up about her dramatic weight loss — and the backlash she’s received because of it — in a May 2022 Instagram post. “You know what’s fun? When you’re living in a larger body, people post that they’re concerned for your health. Then, when you transition into a smaller body, people post that they’re concerned for your health. Starting to feel like there’s no winning as a woman,” she wrote. Keep reading to see the photo she posted and read how she clapped back at her critics…

_

After losing a significant amount of weight over the previous year, “Superstore” star Lauren Ash shared this photo of herself on Instagram in May 2022 and hit back at those who criticized her for slimming down. “To the people who have DMed me this week telling me I’m no longer a role model because I lost weight, I guess my question is, why was my body the only thing that gave me value as a role model? I’ve never once promoted weight loss, nor would I ever. I just happen to be in a body that’s smaller right now than it was a year ago. And god willing, if I’m privileged enough to walk this earth for a long life, my body will expand and contract and change many times over,” she explained. “And to the COUNTLESS people asking me my ‘secret,’ please stop. There is no secret. I removed stress from my life. That’s it. It’s amazing what our bodies hold onto when in a prolonged state of stress.” Lauren went on to add that she’s “always posted photos celebrating my body. I’m not going to stop now. I’m more confident and happier than ever before in my life and I enjoy commemorating that with fashion posts and all that fun stuff. If you don’t like it, and it’s upsetting to you, please unfollow and no need to inform me that you did. I honestly never expected the vitriol I’ve experienced over the past week simply because I’ve lost weight.”

In April 2022, actress, writer and producer Mindy Kaling opened up about slimming down — and why she waited to do it — after welcoming her second child, son Spencer. “I had my son in the first year of the pandemic in September 2020… It was this almost extended maternity leave. I wasn’t going to be on camera, the studios were shut down,” she explained to “Entertainment Tonight.” “After I had my daughter [Katherine in 2017] I had to shoot a movie like, two months later, so I was very much like, ‘Just give me grilled salmon and sautéed spinach. I’m going to eat that for three months.'” But when Hollywood started opening up more in 2021, Mindy (seen here that July) started thinking that “not taking any consideration for what I’m eating is probably not the way to go,'” she explained. So she focused on slimming down. Keep reading to find out what she did, and to see the impressive results she debuted in March 2022…

_

A week after Mindy Kaling posted this photo of herself on Instagram looking noticeably slimmer in March 2022, she opened up to “Entertainment Tonight” about how she lost weight, though she didn’t reveal how many pounds she dropped. “Honestly, I didn’t really do anything differently. I eat what I like to eat. If I do any kind of restrictive diet, it never really works for me. I just eat less of it,” she explained. “I wish there was something more juicy or dynamic about the way that I’ve lost a little bit of weight, but that’s the way I’ve done it.”

During a March 2022 visit to “The View,” actress Raven-Symone revealed that when she left the show, which she co-hosted for a time, in 2016 and started working on “Raven’s Home,” “I was 210 pounds. I am now 170. No exercise.” Keep reading to see what she looks like 40 pounds lighter and find out what she did…

Raven-Symone dropped 40 pounds to get down to 170 not by exercising but by changing her eating habits — mostly by cutting out sugar. “What made me want to change was her,” she said during a visit to “The View” in March 2022, speaking about Miranda Pearman-Maday, whom she married in 2020. “I want to be here for her as long as I can.” Raven explained that with Miranda’s “help and guidance and love and fantastic cooking skills, she helped me kick sugar. I say kick sugar because it is an addictive drug. I was addicted to it in wheat form, in regular form, and it’s out of my system.” Raven joked that her food vice was “a fish filet with an extra packet of ketchup on Fridays.” Now, she explained, “I eat cookies, but they’re Keto-friendly, and I [eat] whole food.”

I feel you. I know what it’s like. But it’s never too late to start improving yourself and trying to be the best version of YOU possible. “Pioneer Woman” star and cookbook author Ree Drummond took to TikTok on May 16, 2021, to share the results of her ongoing 2021 weight loss journey. “I can’t get away from food and I love to eat. “The Pioneer Woman” star Ree Drummond shared the results of her health and weight loss journey in May 2021 in a video she shared on TikTok in which she revealed she’d lost 38 pounds since January 2021. So how’d she do it? “No gimmicks at all. I just cut calories, exercised more, lifted a lot of weights,” she said. “I look better but I feel so much better and that’s what really counts.” On June 15, 2021 the self-described “lover of food and avoider of exercise” shared specific details of her slimdown — at that point she’d dropped 43 pounds — in a lengthy blog post titled “How I Lost Weight (More Importantly: How I Got Healthier!)” in which she explained, “In January, just before I bit the bullet and took the leap, I was tired, puffy, and desperate…and I knew I shouldn’t be feeling that way.” One year later in January 2022, she was down a total of 55 pounds…

In February 2022, Ree Drummond took to her blog to share photos of herself one year after she began her weight loss journey. In her post titled “10 Things I’ve Learned About Losing Weight, One Year After I Started,” Ree explained how she ended up 55 pounds down in 12 months. “I didn’t use a trainer, I didn’t do Keto or Paleo or follow an official diet, I didn’t eat specialty foods, and I didn’t do intermittent fasting. Those things work for lots of people, which is wonderful! I just hadn’t had success with them,” she shared. So what did she do? “I ate fewer calories. I consumed smaller portions. I weighed my food. I walked and did the rowing machine. I built muscle by lifting weights and doing lunges and squats. I ate more protein, ate less sugar and drank no alcohol. I used an app called Happy Scale to track my daily weight. I switched to a standing desk and generally tried to stand and move more.” She’s seen here with son Bryce Drummond in December 2021.

Shannon Beador has talked openly about her weight struggles on “The Real Housewives of Orange County,” including in 2017 as she coped with a split from her husband, David Beador. “I realized after my separation and divorce that I can stand on my own two feet. I can take care of myself and my family, I’m gonna be OK, so that was kind of one hurdle. And then it came to the physical appearance, and I would always lose half of the 40 pounds and then I’d gain it back,” she later told Page Six. “I just finally said, ‘This has gotta stop. You need to make the commitment and just keep following through this time.'” She’s continued to work on it and in January 2022 revealed some impressive results…

_

On Jan. 31, 2022, “The Real Housewives of Orange County” star Shannon Beador took to Instagram to share this selfie and an update with fans. “Have spent the last few months eating clean, exercising, taking @realforrealcuisine Mineral-Aid Nightly for detoxification, and have finally balanced my hormones!” she captioned the shot. “Today I am down 14 pounds with just a little more to go!”

Music star Billy Joel — seen here in 2018 — made a major (and unintentional!) lifestyle change in 2021. During an October 2021 appearance on “The Howard Stern Show,” the musician said that going under the knife for a back problem led to a 50-pound weight loss. “I had back surgery early this year and the pain afterwards was so bad I lost my appetite. … I embraced that. I said, ‘OK, I won’t eat as much,’ and I ate less and less and less and less and then there was just life aggravation and that tends to, you know, impact your appetite too,” he shared. See the results of his slimdown next…

Billy Joel showed off his slimmed-down physique while performing at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Nov. 5, 2021. “I had gotten kind of chunky. I was happy to lose the weight,” he said during an October 2021 appearance on “The Howard Stern Show.”

In January 2021, “The Late Late Show with James Corden” host James Corden, seen here in 2020, announced that he was joining WW, previously known as Weight Watchers, as a new spokesman. “I’ve realized that every year for the past decade — probably even 15 years — on January the first I’ve told myself and anyone that would listen that I’m going on a diet, I’m going to lose a load of weight,” he said on the WW Youtube page. “I’m fed up with the way I look, I’m fed up with being unhealthy, this is the year I’m doing it.” Keep reading to see James’s progress in 2021…

It’s game-changing and I feel incredible,” the host of “The Late Late Show” (seen in November 2021) told People magazine in a statement, explaining that he’s learned “how to eat and live healthier in a way that’s manageable for me.” According to James, his new health plan “a new way of life.”

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” star Jacob Batalon, seen here in 2019, opened up about his weight loss journey to Men’s Health in December 2021. The actor shared that he decided to make a change in late 2019 and hired a personal trainer in 2020 and started working out six days a week. Jacob, who plays Ned Leeds, Peter Parker’s sidekick, in the flicks, was also inspired by his girlfriend to implement a plant-based diet and ultimately lost 112 pounds.

_

Jacob Batalon showed off his 112-pound slimdown on the red carpet of the premiere of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in December 2021. He told Men’s Health that same month, “Even when I wasn’t doing anything physical, I found myself getting sleepy at work and it was because of all the fat food I was eating. I felt like I could barely walk upstairs without being out of breath, and this one day I kind of just saw myself without a shirt on and it was just ridiculous.” That was when the actor was inspired to make a change, adding, “I could not believe I let myself get this far. That’s what sort of started it all.”

Back in 2018, Tyler Whitman — a real estate agent who joined the cast of “Million Dollar Listing: New York” in 2019 — took to Instagram to reveal his incredible 200-pound weight loss. In December 2021, he wrote an essay for “Today” reflecting on his epic slimdown journey, which has seen him keep the weight off. The Bravo star said he hit his rock bottom in December 2015 when, at 300 pounds, he nearly passed out at a Phish concert. “I was sobbing, humiliated,” he wrote. “I said to [my friend], ‘I am taking care of this. I am so done.'” He’d struggled for years and tried every diet there was — he’s said he gained and lost 100 pounds many times over — before ultimately deciding to undergo gastric sleeve surgery. “That, plus exercise and a healthy diet, worked for me,” he said. Tyler lost 200 pounds in a year and remains in great shape today. “You know those before-and-after photos of people who have lost a lot of weight? Instead of before and after, I prefer to say past and present — because it’s not as though the work is done,” he explained. “This transformation is something I have to show up for and do work for every day.”

_

John Goodman told David Letterman in 2010 that at his heaviest, he was “pushing 400” pounds. As the public has seen over the years, the actor fluctuates. “I’d lose 60 pounds every spring, and then I got too fond of the barley corn and I’d just start missing it too much,” he said. “And then it would just screw everything up. I’d gain it all back and then some every year.” Keep reading to see what he looks like today…

_

A 2014 knee surgery caused by years of unhealthy living and weight gain forced John Goodman to get on the right path. The actor first showed off his much thinner frame at the Golden Globes in January 2018 (seen here). Just like everything else, a fit life is hard work. “It’s going to be an ongoing process for the rest of my life,” John has said. Three years later, he’s still shedding pounds…

“The Conners” star John Goodman looked even slimmer in December 2021 as he hit the red carpet in Los Angeles, proving he’s managed to keep the weight off.

Back in 2012, fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld rudely called Adele (seen here in 2008) “a little too fat.” The following year, he said the Grammy winner was “roundish.” Fans were appalled, but the singer claimed she was never affected by fat-shaming. “I’ve never seen magazine covers or music videos and been like, ‘I need to look like that to be a success,'” she told “60 Minutes” in 2012. “I don’t want to be some skinny mini with my t*** out. I really don’t want to do it and I don’t want people confusing what it is that I’m about.” But she did make some personal changes for her health after she became a mom. Keep reading to see her transformation in 2015 and how she took things further in 2020 and beyond…

At the same time Adele dropped “Hello” — her first new single in three years — in 2015, she revealed she’d dropped a few pounds as well. Although she never shared how much weight she lost, the Grammy winner did reveal she was hitting the gym to prep for a world tour. In late 2019 and early 2020, new photos of the singer — including some she posted on Instagram herself — revealed she’d lost even more weight: reportedly 100 pounds! Next, see her in October 2020…

_

Adele delivered laughs (but no new music!) when she hosted NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” on Oct. 24, 2020. During her monologue, she showed off her trim figure and quipped, “I know I look really, really different since you last saw me but actually, because of all the COVID restrictions and the travel bans, I had to travel light and only bring half of me — and this is the half I chose.” A year later, Adele opened up about what fueled her 100-pound weight loss to Vogue in a November 2021 cover story. According to the mother of one, who was coping with a split from her husband, she discovered that hitting the gym helped with her mental health. “It became my time. I realized that when I was working out, I didn’t have any anxiety. It was never about losing weight.” The singer added, “I thought, If I can make my body physically strong, and I can feel that and see that, then maybe one day I can make my emotions and my mind physically strong.” Keep reading to see Adele in 2021 as she prepared to release a new album: “30.”

Adele showed off her hourglass figure when she performed on the CBS special “Adele One Night Only,” which aired on Nov. 14, 2021, to promote her latest album “30.” “My body’s been objectified my entire career,” Adele said in an interview for the cover of the November 2021 issue of Vogue. “It’s not just now. I understand why it’s a shock.” She added, “I understand why some women especially were hurt. Visually I represented a lot of women. But I’m still the same person.” The “worst part of the whole thing,” she explained, “was that the most brutal conversations were being had by other women about my body. I was very f****** disappointed with that. That hurt my feelings.” On the 2021 CBS special, Adele opened up even more in an interview with Oprah Winfrey, explaining that working out quelled her “terrifying anxiety attacks” and helped her, with the help of a personal trainer, get to the point where she was dead-lifting 160-170 pounds. She again reflected on the judgement she got surrounding her weight loss. “I was body positive then and I’m body positive now,” Adele said. “But it’s not my job to validate how people feel about their bodies. And I feel bad that, you know, it’s made anyone feel horrible about themselves. But that’s not my job. … I’m trying to sort my own life out. I can’t add another worry.”

In August 2020, fans noticed that Kelly Osbourne (seen here in October 2020) was looking slimmer than ever in some of her Instagram photos, which led Kelly to confirm that she’d indeed lost a significant amount of weight — 85 pounds, she said. Days later on an episode of the “Hollywood Raw” podcast, the TV host revealed she’d undergone gastric sleeve surgery to help her achieve her weight-loss goal. “All it does is change the shape of your stomach. I got that almost two years ago,” she said, adding, “I will never, ever, ever lie about it ever. It is the best thing I have ever done.” She explained that she “had to do a year of stand-alone therapy to prepare myself for the surgery before I even had it. What people don’t realize is it cuts out this hormone that if you have addiction issues, it stops your craving, and it makes you not emotionally eat, and that was a huge problem for me.” She said getting sober beforehand helped and warned, “All [the surgery] is is a push in the right direction. It doesn’t solve all your problems… It’s not a quick fix.”

In March 2021, “Perfect Strangers” alum Bronson Pinchot revealed he’d lost an incredible 60 pounds, sharing the before-and-after photos on Instagram. The first pic (seen here) was taken in 2017 when he was filming “Battle of the Network Stars.” He told Page Six that he started his slim-down in May 2020 after he saw the snapshot shortly after coronavirus lockdowns began and thought, “There was an old fat guy.” The “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” actor — who’s now vegan — said he went through his pantry and fridge and got rid of all the junk food “and then I just put healthy food in the house and I said, ‘OK, puppy, you can have whatever’s there.'” It was difficult — he admitted he sometimes couldn’t sleep because of hunger pangs — but in six months, he’d dropped the weight by following a “self-designed healthy plant-based eating program,” he explained on Instagram.

_

Bronson Pinchot posted this photo of himself on Instagram on March 8, 2021, revealing the results of his 60-pound weight loss. He told Page Six that after slimming down, he went through a box of clothing and mementos from his time playing Balki Bartokomous on ABC’s “Perfect Strangers” from 1986 to 1993 — he hadn’t touched it for 25 years — and tried on a few things. “And they fit,” he said. “And I thought, ‘I’m pretty sure I’m the only 61-year-old within a 10-mile radius that’s getting into his clothes from when he was a 26-year-old doing two aerobics classes a day.’ And that feels pretty good. That feels pretty good.”

He didn’t post any photos of himself on social media for five months, then suddenly returned in late February 2021 to reveal the truth of why he was away — and share that he’d lost 60 pounds and was down to 146. “People who don’t want to lose weight make a whole bunch of excuses,” he told TMZ before offering controversial and not-recommended diet advice: “Starve yourself,” he said, “and work out.” He also told TMZ he cheated on his diet every three days to treat himself to Gushers candy.

_

In April 2019, Ariel Winter, who has always been candid about body image, took to Instagram to discuss the reason behind her recent weight loss. “For years I had been on anti-depressants that caused me to gain weight that I couldn’t lose no matter what I did. It was always frustrating for me because I wanted to get fit and feel like the work I was doing was paying off, but it never felt that way,” she began. She went on to explain how a change in medication improved her metabolism and made her drop the weight. “While I feel better mentally with the change, it’s nice to work out and have your body actually respond. I want to gain a few pounds of muscle and get healthier,” she added. The actress also revealed that in addition to working out, she’d also cut back on “eating a ton of cheese, bread and greasy food,” which helped her feel “more energized and healthier.” She’s seen here at an event in Las Vegas the same month.

In recent years, she read “The Plant Paradox,” a book she said changed her entire eating regimen — and her figure! “It worked wonderfully for me. It’s, like, 37 pounds [lost], like, that’s a side effect,” she said. “Here’s the best part, y’all. It’s not even the weight. I mean, I know the industry loves the weight gone, but for me it wasn’t really the weight. For me, it was [that] I’m not on my medicine anymore. My blood work came back and I haven’t been on my medicine since, like, February [2018].” Next up, see her slimmed-down look…

And I use, like, non-hormone chicken.” And in 2019, Kelly seemed to be shedding even more weight. In 2010, when Dr. Oz appeared on his eponymous talk show, Jimmy was called out for his eating and exercise habits. “For years I had no idea what I weighed. I finally bought a scale in 2010. I think I ordered it because I’d read on a gadget website that it had WiFi. I weighed 208,” Jimmy told Men’s Journal in 2015. “When you see that number, it makes you look at yourself differently.”
