Charley Webb: Emmerdale’s Debbie Dingle speaks out on ‘furious’ reaction to soap return

Emmerdale: Charley Webb talks fan response to Debbie’s return

Charley Webb, 32, has responded to messages from “fuming” Emmerdale fans following her return to the soap as Debbie Dingle this evening. The actress took to Instagram to speak out on the reaction from viewers following her comeback.

It comes after Charley’s character Debbie became involved in a cheating scandal in the show.

Al Chapman (played by Michael Wildman) had been having dalliances behind fiancée Priya’s (Fiona Wade) back with a mystery woman, who was revealed to be Debbie.

Al first met Debbie in Scotland after she temporarily left the Dales to set up her own garage.

However, his secret could be at risk of being unveiled as Debbie returned to Emmerdale to sort things out with her daughter, Sarah (Katie Hill), who had run away from home after dropping a packet of drugs into the vicar’s son’s pocket to cover for her drug dealer love interest.

Al was seen trying his best to keep Debbie and Priya apart during tonight’s episode to cover up his lies.

Charley spoke out on the response to her character’s comeback in view of her 483,000 followers this evening.

The star revealed she had received comments from fans who were “fuming” about Al’s antics.

She said in a video: “I’ve been reading your messages.

“You are all furious and making me laugh so much about Debbie and Al and you’re fuming with him.”

The mum-of-three went on to share her concerns about her forthcoming appearance on Loose Women to discuss the dramatic storyline.

Charley revealed she’d been worrying about doing a live chat from home alongside her young family due to the coronavirus lockdown.

The actress shares sons Buster, 10, Bowie, five, and Ace, one, with her husband Matthew Wolfenden.

Addressing the situation, Charley added: “Anyway, I’m on Loose Women tomorrow and it’s going to be interesting trying to do a live interview at home with three kids.

“It’s during Ace’s nap time luckily, otherwise I’m telling you now I 100 per cent would not be doing it, the stress would be horrendous.”

The small-screen star also admitted she had reservations about getting glammed up for her TV appearance.

Charley continued: “Anyway, I really don’t want to get dressed up, is that bad?

“Maybe I should get dressed up. When I say dressed up, I mean actually get out of loungewear.

“I will put a bit of make-up on and obviously do my hair because I haven’t even brushed it today.

“But I just feel like if I wasn’t dressed like this, I’d just be lying to you all and myself!”

Charley then asked fans for their thoughts on whether she should “wear something other than a tracksuit” on Loose Women.
