Felicity Huffman Macy didn’t keep her emotions in check on Monday, as she apparently shed quite a few tears while pleading guilty to her role in the far-reaching, nationwide college admissions scandal.
The actress reportedly shed quite a few tears in the courtroom today, according to a source who reveals that the star “was crying” as she opened up about her role and exactly what she did in the infamous bribery case.
That Huffman is feeling so much emotion after pleading guilty makes some sense, because every last one of the dozens of people implicated in this scandal are finally starting to realize just how serious this thing could be! And yes, that includes fellow celeb and disgraced TV star Lori Loughlin, who is only just now realizing that her reputation is pretty much forever tarnished with this scandal.
There’s a big difference between Huffman’s tears and whatever is going on with Loughlin, though: as we’ve reported before, it’s been a long time coming for Huffman to fully own up to what she did in a court of law, after she acknowledged what she did in a public statement back in April. Loughlin and husband Mossimo Giannulli, on the other hand, had no such luck with a plea deal and they’ve chosen to go off and fight the feds on their own.
That may prove difficult, what with all the apparent evidence the government currently has against Loughlin and her husband in their quest to get convictions on the pair’s alleged college admissions scheme. As of now, Loughlin and Giannulli have officially pleaded not guilty to their charges related to fraud; they’ve also been charged with money laundering conspiracy, too, so things could get very serious for them as the courtroom battle progresses.
As for Huffman, well, now we wait.
According to reports, her sentencing date was just set for September 13, 2019. Per Us Weekly, prosecutors will probably recommend a sentence of at least four months in federal prison for the 56-year-old actress, as well as most likely asking the judge to hand out a fine somewhere around $20,000 to the celeb. Huffman’s lawyers, on the other hand, are expected to ask for no prison time, in part because of her willingness to admit guilt, plead out, and help the government’s case.
We’ll report more on Huffman’s sentencing when it does take place.
In the meantime, what do U think about all this, Perezcious readers?! We want to hear from you! Sound OFF in the comments (below)…
