Former Strictly Come Dancing star James Jordan, 43, and his wife Ola Jordan, 38, spoke candidly about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s recent announcement. Prince Harry, 36, and Meghan Markle, 39, decided to name their daughter Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor in a touching nod to Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke’s late mother, Diana, the Princess of Wales.

The couple’s heartwarming gesture has sparked division with some supporting the move, while other’s have criticised the name choice in light of recent events.

James, who welcomed his daughter Ella with his other half last year, has shared his thoughts over the royal baby name.

The Dancing On Ice champion has said Harry and Meghan were showing respect to Her Majesty.

James commented that the royal couple should be able to decide their baby’s name choice.

Speaking in his latest column for HELLO!, the professional dancer admitted he applauded the Duke and Duchess on the royal baby name.

“My opinion on that is you should be able to call your child whatever you want to call your child,” James remarked.

“I think it’s more ridiculous when people call their children these stupid names like peanut butter, pea for short! I find that more annoying.”

He added: “I think it’s actually a level of respect that they’re honouring her.”

James’ wife Ola suggested that the name choice had created a lot of media attention which she found “strange” for Meghan and Harry.

The professional dancer explained that their daughter Ella’s middle name is Amelia, which is Ola’s great grandmother’s name.

Addressing Lillibet’s touching tribute, the mum-of-one said: “It’s created a lot of hoo-ha, which I find strange because they didn’t want any press, they want to be quite private.”

Newborn Lilibet is the Queen’s 11th great-grandchild and is eighth in line to the throne.

The Queen’s childhood nickname was also one frequently used by her late husband, Prince Philip, who died April 9, 2021.

Harry and Meghan announced that their second child was born at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California last week.

As the Duke and Duchess revealed their happy news, they said their daughter was “more than we could have ever imagined”.

The couple’s statement read: “Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet.

“Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.

“The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family.”

Meanwhile, James’ former Strictly co-star recently hit out at Harry and Meghan’s decision to name their daughter Lillibet.

The Strictly professional insisted that he would only be comfortable with the name choice if the Queen is happy about the tribute.

Speaking on Steph’s Packed Lunch, Anton said: “I find it irritating. I don’t find it nice, bearing in my mind what’s gone on.”
