Khalid Takes Home Three AMAs, Including Favorite Male Artist – Pop/Rock

Khalid became the first African-American artist to win the Favorite Male Artist award in the pop/rock category at the American Music Awards since Michael Jackson won it posthumously 10 years ago.

The singer took home three awards in all at this year’s AMAs, held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday.

In addition to Favorite Male Artist – Pop/Rock, Khalid won Favorite Album – Soul/R&B for Free Spirits and the Top Song – Soul/R&B for “Talk.”

This year’s AMAs saw Taylor Swift hogging the limelight, bagging six awards, including Artist of the Year and Artist of the Decade.

Khalid and BTS tied for the second spot, winning three awards each.
