Krishnan Guru-Murthy will be joining Strictly Come Dancing 2023
Krishnan Guru-Murthy made a rare admission about his wife Lisa Guru-Murthy.
The Channel 4 News broadcaster revealed his spouse was the first person he phoned when asked to take part in this year’s series of Strictly Come Dancing, although the news anchor had turned down the opportunity several times before.
While the couple’s two children had differing opinions about the news – his daughter, 18 is said to be thrilled while his son, 16 is “appalled and embarrassed” about his Strictly debut, the 53-year-old is being supported by his wife.
“I rang my wife, and told her I was thinking of saying yes. She thought it was a good idea – which had never happened,” he told The Guardian.
The news anchor rarely shares insights into his family life but the couple has been happily married since they tied the knot in 2005.

Tonight he will appear on Strictly on the BBC show launch as he will be joined by a host of famous faces who are taking part in the 2023 series.
The long-serving Channel 4 News broadcaster tends to keep his family out of the spotlight and little is known about Krishnan and his other half.
The met through their mutual friend Tim Hincks.
Talking of how they first crossed paths Krishnan previously explained: “Tim worked with me on a show and introduced me to Lisa, who worked with his wife, Pippa.

“Now, much more importantly, we play in a band together.
“But we don’t talk rock’n’roll in front of wives – they don’t take us seriously.”
After hitting it off, Krishnan and Lisa later got married in 2005 and have two children – daughter Jasmine and a son together.
In 2019, Krishnan shared a snap from their wedding day on Instagram as they celebrated 14 years together.
He captioned the post: “I can’t believe it’s 14 years! I’m very lucky.”
Strictly Come Dancing airs tonight on BBC One at 6.35pm.
