Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Instagram presence has already given the world so many blessings—from the rumors that Meghan updates the @SussexRoyal Instagram herself, to the Duke and Duchess’s support of a number of charities on the platform.
But there’s reportedly an important reason why Meghan and Harry only have an Instagram account, and aren’t present on any other social media platforms, such as Twitter.
Royal commentator Omid Scobie revealed via Twitter, “There are still no plans for the Sussexes to open a Twitter account and, tbh, I don’t think they need to right now. With better cyberbullying measures in place, I can understand why they feel more protected being #OnlyOnInstragram — especially when baby photos are concerned.”

A subsequent tweet by Scobie further drove home the fact that Twitter can be rife with abuse. The royal expert wrote, “I’ve noticed some people seem to enjoy tweeting nasty comments about certain individuals underneath my posts. Everyone is entitled to voice their opinion on here, but I won’t tolerate hate or mean-spiritedness towards others on my feed. Please think twice before hitting send”:
In fact, Kensington Palace was previously forced to issue a set of social media guidelines, following a wave of abuse directed at Kate Middleton and Meghan online.
Understandably, if Meghan and Harry feel most comfortable using Instagram, then there’s no reason for the couple to join any other social networks right now. The good thing is that royal fans can continue to follow Meghan, Harry, and Archie’s progress on the @SussexRoyal Instagram, which is a pretty special thing.
