Meghan Markle has reportedly picked up a British accent after living in the United Kingdom for two years with her husband Prince Harry.

The 38 year old, who "ghosted" Lizzie Cundy after Prince Harry proposed to her, has allegedly been slipping in some Britishisms into her every day language since moving back to California, US, earlier this year.

A source explained that staff at the royal couple's new £11million mansion have been amused by Meghan's new mixed vocabulary.

"Meghan was the all-American girl before she met Harry, but since living in the UK she’s adopted certain phrases," the insider said.

“Her staff think it’s amusing to listen to an American celebrity using Britishisms. She’s often heard saying, ‘Oh dahling,’ to people at home."

Staff members have allegedly been taking the mickey out of her new slang as the source continued: "They do have a giggle about it and sometimes they do impressions of her but only in a light-hearted way. It’s funny to them."

While Meghan's vocabulary has changed over time, it seems 35 year old Harry's has remained the same as the source went on to explain that their staff love his British accent.

"The staff there love to hear Harry’s accent, too. They adore him.

“He’s very well-mannered and staff were shocked by how down-to-earth he is as a royal. He just wants to live a more normal life now in California and enjoy family time.

“No doubt he’ll start to pick up Americanisms soon and will be asking staff to take out the trash.”

It comes as it was recently reported that Meghan, who is said to be bonding with her neighbour Adele, became so close to Prince Charles that she saw him as a "second father".

According to the controversial biography Finding Freedom, written by journalists Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand, the Duchess of Sussex is claimed to have found her father-in-law "supportive and loving" from the moment she was introduced to him.

They also said that at the time a trusted confidant said Meghan "found such a supportive and loving father in Charles, which has really changed her life for the better."

It's claimed by a friend of Charles' that the Prince of Wales had "taken a real shine to Meghan. She's a sassy, confident, beautiful American. He likes very strong, confident women. She's bright, and she's self-aware, and I can see why they've struck up a very quick friendship."
