Pete Wicks has revealed the real reason behind his 'swollen face' during the I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! final.

The former The Only Way Is Essex star, 35, was at the final of the ITV show on Sunday, 10 December in Australia supporting best friend Sam Thompson, 31, who was crowned King of the Jungle in emotional scenes.

Pete met Sam on the iconic I'm A Celeb bridge with the pair sharing a sweet reunion and posing for photographs together. While many TV viewers flocked to gush over the duo, others were more distracted by Pete's eyes as they appeared to be swollen.

"What's happened to Pete wicks eyes? Looks like an allergic reaction," one TV viewer wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. A second fan wrote on Instagram: "Tell him to fix Pete's eyes what's he been doing to them and his face."

On Monday (11 December) Pete took to Instagram to set the record straight and confirmed he had suffered a reaction to mosquito bites while Australia.

"Also, you'll all be pleased to know my face has returned to normal following the horrific reaction I had to the mosquito bites," Pete penned. "They saw my face and thought it was an all you can eat buffet."

Pete then shared a tribute to Sam after his I'm A Celeb win, writing: "What a journey…what a guy. It's over and out from the #TEAMSAM jungle fan club, I've embarrassed myself enough! Time to go back to calling him a pr**k every two minutes."

Pete and Sam's reunion the bridge prompted a huge reaction from fans, with thousands gushing over the pair's friendship and their excitement over seeing one another.

"Seeing Pete with tears in his eyes for his bestie was something special welldone Sam you deserve it," one person wrote on social media.

A second said: "Pete what a friend you are. Proper friendship goals. Love you both xx," while a third fan said: "What a beautiful bromance you two have. Well done to @samthompsonuk for the win and well done to @p_wicks01 for being his biggest cheerleader."

Made in Chelsea star Sam made it to the final alongside ex-boxer Tony Bellew and UKIP founder Nigel Farage. Tony, 41, came in second place while Nigel, 59, came in third place.
