Prince Harry is "sick of being the spare" and wants to be seen as the more "important" brother, his biographer Angela Levin has claimed.

Angela, who once spent a year with Harry, appeared on Good Morning Britain on Thursday to talk about him reuniting with brother Prince William to unveil a new memorial to their late mother Princess Diana, an occasion that many people hope will heal the rift between them.

But Angela said that she thinks it is unlikely the brothers will make up at the event, as she believes Harry is sick of being second best to William.

She told hosts Adil Ray and Kate Garraway: "My view is that Prince Harry has decided over some time away and perhaps even before that he's had absolutely enough of being the spare, the second one, the one who always has to pick up the pieces as it were.

"He's established himself as the voice and the feeling of his mother and that he's the one who knows about it, he says 'there's a lot of my mother in me.'"

Talking about a speech Harry gave this week, in which he said young people will be the ones to change the world, Angela said the Duke of Sussex's decision to speak out was "almost taking William's role because he's speaking first." She added that it also sounded as though his speech had been written by his wife Meghan Markle.

Angela continued: "I think he wants to get people to think he's the important one. He's made a move so that people can hear him and that he can put forward what his mother really wants to do whereas William is pragmatic, he loves his mother just the same but wants to incorporate it into his life, he's said I want this to make me, not break me.

"Harry wants to crush the Royal family, he's been very, very unkind saying that both Prince William and Prince Charles are stuck and is demeaning the whole issue of the Royal family. He wants to take on Diana's role and be like her in the future."

But presenter Adil Ray argued that he had not heard Harry being unkind and told Angela she was being "harsh".

Angela said: "I'm sorry to be harsh because when I spent over a year with Prince Harry I thought he was wonderful. I think he's completely changed and sees that he has her legacy. I don't think it's very nice to describe your father as a lousy parent and your brother as stuck."

Furious about the accusations of Harry calling his dad "lousy", Adil called Angela out on her choice of words.

He said: "He didn't say lousy parent, where are you quoting lousy parent from? I've not seen that anywhere? He didn't say lousy parent, this is part of the problem that he says one thing but it's reported… you're invited on this show and you've got a responsibility, if you're going to say you spent a year with him then report it accurately."

Angela replied: "To say your father's let you down is a horrible thing to say. Prince Charles is a very sensitive man and Harry knows that. Lousy is the wrong word but the actual impression is what I stand by."
