The 99 year old is seen in his younger years frolicking about in a swimming pool, and he looks as though he’s about to fall off the lilo he’s sitting on.

The footage was shot by Patricia Norrie, the wife of then Governor-General of New Zealand, Sir Willoughby Norrie as he hosted the couple on the local leg of a gruelling seven-month Commonwealth tour.

From 1953 to May 1954, the Queen and Philip travelled the West Indies, Australasia, Asia and Africa, covering a huge 44,000 miles.

However, the photos show that the royal pair took the chance for some downtime with Sir Willoughby and Patricia Norrie during their travels.

Sarah Stevenson, the daughter of Patricia and Sir Willoughby, has described the time in history as “terribly exciting” with the royals staying at their home.

The candid documentary comes as the Queen now has almost 70 years of royal globetrotting under her belt.

Other snippets into her life include a look at Her Majesty with President Tito, during her visit to Belgrade in 1972.
