Roman Kemp has been announced at the the host for the star-studded TRIC Awards.

The Capital Breakfast star, 28, will host the awards ceremony, which takes place in central London on Wednesday 15 September.

Roman will be handing out the gongs to the winners as TV, radio and online shows go head to head in 18 categories.

The awards, which are in partnership with OK! and Sky, will be presented in front of a live audience of 350 special guests and fans. Meanwhile, those who wish to tune-in can watch the free, exclusive livestream on ScreenHits.TV.

Roman will be hosting the ceremony at 8 Northumberland Avenue, near Trafalgar Square. Stars of TV, radio and much more will first take to the red carpet in their glam outfits ahead of the ceremony.

Nominees for The Television and Radio Industries Club Awards include Ant and Dec,who picked up the NTA for best presenter for the 20th year in a row last week,Danny Dyer, who has been nominated as best soap actor, and Alison Hammond, who has been nominated for the TV personality gong.

Roman has also been nominated for the radio personality award, meaning it could be an eventful evening for the star.

TRIC chair Jane Olster said of the upcoming ceremony: "We can’t wait to come together and celebrate the very best of British TV, radio and online as we pay tribute to the actors, presenters and comedians who kept us happy and hooked throughout the dark days of lockdown.

"Having Roman as our MC is the icing on the cake – the atmosphere in the room is going to be utterly electric."

This year's awards will raise funds for Combat Stress, which is the UK's leading charity for veterans mental health and AKT, which supports LGBTQ+ young people who are struggling with homelessness.

The last Tric Awards managed to take place in March 2020, shortly before the lockdown, where Strictly Come Dancing won the reality programme award and Gavin and Stacey picked up the award for entertainment programme.

This year, the winners of the 52nd ceremony will be picked by members of the public and industry experts each year.

Chair of TRIC Jane shared her excitement at the return of the ceremony earlier this year as she said: "It's been a tough year for broadcasters and we're delighted to pay tribute to all those committed professionals who kept the show on the road.

"In the 18 months since the last TRIC Awards, we've become a nation of box set bingers and audio fanatics.

"Now we can't wait to put on our party dresses and show our appreciation for a fantastic year in TV, radio and online."
