Brownstone's FW20 Collection Aims to Salvage the Year

Brownstone was formed in 2016 by brothers Warner and Waverly Warner to envelope and streamline their disparate tastes, which range from shoegaze and Stanley Kubrick to raw Japanese denim and retro Americana. Fall/Winter 2020, “Form/VOID,” collects these influences into a cohesive Los Angeles-made selection of readily wearble garments, toeing the line between luxury clothing and utilitarian staples.

Fans of Brownstone’s mohair cardigans include LeBron James and Erykah Badu and the brothers revived them in force this season, realizing the Italian angora sweaters in sophisticated autumn-toned color-blocking. These are layered atop the label’s signature graphic hoodies and tees above Japanese corduroy cargo pants bolstered by no less than 14 cargo pockets. Alongside a canary-toned suede jacket, the collection’s crown jewel is a vintage-inspired varsity jacket realized with a melton wool body, rabbit fur collar and custom chenille patches executed by artist Jacob Rochester.
