A HAIRDRESSER has revealed that she sees loads of people making the same mistakes with purple shampoo. 

Luxe hair specialists, SJ Forbes, are located in Egham, Surrey, Windsor and Berkshire and recently took to TikTok to reveal the common mistakes that people are making. 


So if you have blonde hair and use purple shampoo, it’s time to listen up. 

The hairdresser said: “Are you a blonde who loves purple shampoo!? Are you making these mistakes? 👉🏼 Using it a lot?!

“Purple is most effective when used on yellow as it’s a complimentary colour. 

“For orange you would need a blue shampoo.”

The hairstylist’s video has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly amassed a whopping 868.7k views.

It has 5,027 likes, 53 comments and 55 shares.

TikTok users were eager to know more about how correctly to use purple shampoo, as many took to the comments for more information. 

One person said: “I thought the whole point in using purple shampoo is to get rid of brassiness 🤷🏼‍♀️” to which the hairdresser replied “Yes it is, but over use and your hair can turn purple or dull. 

“Keep it bright by occasionally using a clarifying shampoo 😁”

Another asked: “What do you mean by not clarifying?” to which the hairdresser responded “Give your hair an initial wash with a clarifying shampoo to remove any build up.”

A third questioned: “How often should I use it?” to which the hairdresser replied “Depends on you, but over use and you’ll lose the blonde brightness! 

“So assess before every wash. But aim every 4-5 washes approx to keep the brass at bay but to be bright!”
