Comedian Chris Rock is getting into horror with the Jigsaw Killer and it’s going to be torture.

Lionsgate announced Thursday that Rock will star in a new film for the torment-filled “Saw” horror franchise.

Rock came up with the concept, still under wraps, that expands the world of “Saw” and Jigsaw, the demented, lethal freak played by Tobin Bell who puts his prey through terrifying tests and cuts a puzzle piece-shaped chunk of flesh from his many victims.

The upcoming, untitled film will be released Oct. 23, 2020, just in time for Halloween.

“I’ve been a fan of ‘Saw’ since the first film in 2004,” said Rock in a Lionsgate release. “I am excited by the opportunity to take this to a really intense and twisted new place.”

Jigsaw made his debut in the first 2004 film “Saw,” and kept his serial-killing ways in “Saw II,” “Saw III,” “Saw IV,” “Saw V,” “Saw VI,” “Saw 3D” and the most recent film in the popular franchise, 2017’s “Jigsaw.”

“When Chris Rock came to us and described in chilling detail his fantastic vision that reimagines and spins off the world of the notorious Jigsaw Killer, we were all in,” said Joe Drake, chairman of Lionsgate’s Motion Picture Group.

Drake added that Rock would be “completely reverential” to the horror legacy while the film would benefit from the comedian’s “wit and creative vision.”

The screenplay, based on Rock’s concept, will be written by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg. The untitled film will be directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who has helmed three of the most successful “Saw” films.
