Coronation Street viewers were left delighted when Nicky Wheatley arrived back in Weatherfield last month.

The character, who is played by actress Kimberly Hart-Simpson,first joined the cobbles back in 2020 where she developed a complicated on-screen relationship with Daniel Osbourne but left after four months to start a new life.

Following more than a year away from our TV screens, Kimberly has reprised her role as Nicky, who is working alongside Daniel as a teaching assistant at Weatherfield High.

But despite Nicky’s life seemingly going from strength-to-strength, her world started to crumble last week when Daniel was caught rowing about his past relationship with her.

Luckily for Kimberly, her life away from the cobbles is a lot less dramatic and a lot more wholesome.

Ahead of her return to our screens, the Coronation Street star revealed that she was among the vast number of celebs who have claimed to visualise their success.

Speaking exclusively to OK! magazine,Kimberly announced that she manifested her return in two and a half hours.

She explained: “The first thing that went on that board was Coronation Street! I wrote a line about how I’d feel if I got to go back and who I’d tell first.

“Two and a half hours later my agent called me and said Corrie had put the feelers out. It made me feel so powerful.”

And though the power of manifestation may have made her comeback all the more special, her first appearance on the show as sex worker Nicky was meaningful to the actress for a different reason.

After she joined the show in 2020, Kimberly, who has appeared in shows including Mount Pleasant and Hollyoaks, opened up about why Coronation Street had a special place in her heart.

“I’ve been watching Coronation Street from the womb. I have been brought up on it. No one would dare ring our house phone when Corrie was on,” she told The Sun at the time.

“My dad was a massive Corrie fan. Every time I went to him, even if I hadn’t seen him in a month, he’d want me to shut up while it was on. I think it might have mattered more to him than I did.

“Unfortunately, I lost my dad in 2007. One of the last things he said to me was, ‘Just do me a favour and get on Corrie, love.’ We had that shared connection with it.”

And after she departed the show following her first stint, Kimberly appeared on Celebs Go Dating: The Mansion in 2021,where she met her ex-boyfriend Shane.

During her time on the show, Kimberly opened up about how she was pansexual and was attracted to people regardless of their biological sex or gender identity.

“I have dated people who are male, female, transgender,” she toldThe Mirror. “Gender is completely irrelevant to me.”

Despite opening up about her sexuality, the TV star revealed that she’d received some criticism on social media.

In an interview with the Sunday People, she said: “People saying it’s a stunt are not my problem. That’s their problem.”

Off-screen, Kimberly has proved that her talents expand further than the world of acting as she is the owner of the celebrity endorsed clothing boutiqueHart-Work.

According to its presence on Asos Marketplace, “Hart-Work specialise in reworking preloved clothing, vintage wear and new creations.”
