How often do you hoover your home? Once a week? Once a fortnight?
Well, these photos might have you reaching for the Dyson on a daily basis.
A woman has uploaded gross pictures to a Facebook cleaning page, showing a pile of dust that she claims settled in her home in just a few days.
And it really is a lot of dust.
But the woman who posted the pics, who is from Australia, says she keeps her home really clean – which further proves just how important it is to hoover regularly.
In the post, the mum explained that she vacuums the carpet of her three-bedroom home every week, and does the hard surfaces ‘several times a week’.
She also keeps shoes and pets outside a lot of the time, and she tends to keep the windows closed to limit the amount of dirt that can get in.
Understandably, the pictures of the giant clumps of dust and dirt that had accumulated in just a few days, left other members of the Facebook group pretty horrified.
‘My vacuum is full every day too and I’m the same as you with no shoes etc. It’s amazing what is in the carpets,’ added one who had had a similar experience.
‘I used to live near a main road and my house was very dusty. The amount of dust you vacuum up is similar to mine – a lot!’ added another.
However, some said that what she thought was dirt was actually natural fibres resting on the carpet, with one explaining: ‘That’s your carpet underlay.’
Other people suggested that while she thought closing her windows was keeping dirt out, opening windows is actually a better way to keep your home clean.
‘Open windows decreases allergens in the air, kills bacteria and germs and freshens your house up,’ said one.
‘I personally air my house out by opening lots of windows, fresh air to release build up of chemicals and stop moisture or mould from building up inside,’ added another.
So, while these pictures look pretty rank, the woman’s house might not be quite as dirty as she first thought.
But it’s probably a good idea to hoover your home more regularly anyway, dust definitely builds up quickly.
