One of life's big questions – does ketchup belong in the fridge or in the cupboard?

Heinz has caused some controversy by posting this very question to its Twitter account.

The sauce creators posted a picture of a bottle of ketchup with the words "Fridge vs Cupboard" and asked fans: "Where does our Ketchup actually belong?"

This has caused some controversy from Twitter users as they argued the home of the much loved food item.

One person wrote: "Cupboard, anyone who says fridge is a b****** with no friends."

Another agreed and said the cupboard was the only place for it. They wrote: "Cupboard. Who wants cold sauce and hot food!!!"

Where as some people believe that ketchup should definitely be kept in the fridge.

One person wrote: "IN THE FRIDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Another said: "Fridge after opening. Specifically in the way of everything else."

Whereas one person didn't care where it was kept, as long as they got to eat it.

They wrote: "in my mouth" with a series of love hearts.

Last year, ketchup fans found out something new about Heinz Ketchup.

You may have noticed that on a glass bottle of the red sauce, there is a number 57 above the label, just below the neck.

Many people have thought this represents the various different products Heinz makes – however it also has another use.

It turns out the number is also strategically placed for an important reason, according to The Mirror.

Heinz says that the spot is the perfect place to tap on the bottle when you're struggling to get ketchup out

In the trivia section of their website, they explained: "To release Heinz Tomato Ketchup from its glass bottle with extra speed, apply a firm tap to the spot marked '57' on the neck label."
