With Christmas fast approaching, the idea of heading to a market or sitting in front of a cheesy film while drinking a cup of mulled wine, Baileys or festive cocktail makes for the perfect end of year celebration.

But with that, there’s always the risk of having one too many and waking up the morning after the night before nursing a bit of a sore head.

And though they may always be looking Instagram ready, with their glam squads and ring lights, celebrities aren’t immune to feeling a little worse for wear come the festive period.

So, here’s some celebrity approved hangover cures that could be the secret to banishing that upset stomach or banging headache.

Gwyneth Paltrow – hydrotherapy

Not one to do things by halves, it’s no surprise that the GOOP guru goes all out when it comes to feeling rejuvenated the next day, turning to hydrotherapy to help boost her energy and rid her body of toxins.

“Draw a bath that’s as hot as you can handle. Soak for 20 minutes then pop into a freezing cold shower for one minute. Get back in the hot bath and stay until you’re warmed up again. Then get back in the shower for one more minute,” she said.

David Beckham – bacon sarnie and Alka-Seltzer

One that many can relate to, the former Manchester United footballer turns to a hearty breakfast to help combat feelings of uneasiness, tucking into a bacon sandwich.

A man who knows how to prepare for what’s to come, the father of four also takes an Alka-Seltzer tablet before bed to help ensure that he wakes up feeling as fresh as possible.

“My grandad told me to do that,” he explained.

Nigella Lawson – the prairie oyster

As the queen of the TV kitchen, everything Nigella eats and drinks is extravagant to say the least, and her hangover cure is no exception. So if you’re someone who doesn’t have their cupboards filled to the brim, you may need to pop to the shops if you’re looking to emulate the chef.

“My hangover cure is the ‘prairie oyster’, which consists of an egg yolk, Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce, brandy, and vinegar. You have to swallow it down in one gulp,” she revealed.

Prince William – jellied eels

Though Christmas at Sandringham is a family affair, when the Duke of Cambridge does find himself going a tad overboard, his hangover remedy is far from being a luxury item.

Taking inspiration from the East End, he said that “I ate jellied eels on a hangover, after a bender.”

Dua Lipa – fish and chips

Far from depending on mineral drinks and supplements, Dua Lipa is a girl after our own hearts.

Taking to Instagram after a night out, she revealed that a classic meal of beer-battered fish, chunky chips and mushy peas was the best way to recover from one too many drinks.

Jamie Oliver

Not afraid of trying something off-piste, Jamie Oliver swears by a spoonful of herbs to help calm his stomach.

“If your hangover is 110% bad, there is this option of a cure, taught to me by an Indian guru. You just grab a teaspoon of cumin and you neck it. It'll settle your tummy. It's quite repulsive, but it works,” he explained.

He also cited Kedgeree as a good option – with fellow chef Gordon Ramsay also favouring the dish.

Julia Roberts

The Pretty Woman actress suggests that rather than vowing to quit the booze in a hangover ridden haste, the secret is to actually drink more of the stuff. Specifically, champagne.

“The secret is to find a balance between Champagne and carrot juice. It works for me when I alternate between the two,” she said.
