The Duchess is a fan of the ethical jewellery brand, and first wore their Baroque Pearl Double Sided earrings in July 2016 when they immediately sold out – before being spotted in them on three occasions afterwards.

Soru jewellery was launched by sisters Francesca and Marianna Doyle in 2013. They were inspired by their summers spent in Sicily and the way women there wore their jewellery.

Francesca, a former jewellery buyer for Claire’s Accessories, explained: ‘We had both recently given up our careers to be full-time mothers as we had young children we wanted to be there for.

‘We have both always loved fashion and we thought “it’s now or never!” So, we went for it and set about creating Soru Jewellery.’

The sisters started with just £6,000 invested from their husbands, which mainly covered the cost of stock. ‘They said they would never see it again but we paid them back within three months!’, added Francesca.

The glamorous sisters share a mutual love for gemstones and want each wearer to have a personal connection to their unique jewel as each piece is handmade and has its own meaning and natural energy, they say.

The sisters used Instagram as their launchpad and now have celebrities contact them directly through social media.

The royal’s brand of choice – Needle & Thread – is well-known within the royal family because it’s a favourite of Princess Beatrice.

The 31-year-old has stepped out in the brand, which is well known for its embroidered and lacy styles, from the retailer several times in the past few years.

On Monday the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were joined at the reception by other senior royals Prince Edward, his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and Princess Anne, but the Queen and Prince Charles were not in attendance.
