A SKILLED haggler has managed to get more than £750 off their yearly Sky TV subscription.

MoneySavingExpert reader Luke told the blog he was able to reduce his monthly bill from £133 to just £70 a month, saving him hundreds a year.

Luke wrote to Martin Lewis' weekly newsletter: "I've got them down from £133 a month to £70 a month for TV, movies, sports and a Netflix add-on – a saving of £756 per year."

His incredible £63-a-month saving has been dubbed one of MoneySavingExpert's "successes of the year".

Sky raised the price of many packages by more than £70 a month earlier this year, so Luke's saving is well-timed.

“You can threaten to leave and say that you will stay if you get a better deal, but you can also get a better deal if you have issues.

"Ensure you get redress for any problems and then request an improved arrangement going forward."

Blogger Helen also advised broadband and TV customers be polite and assertive when requesting price changes.

She said: "Ask for what the best they can offer is and if you develop a good rapport, try haggling further with another suggestion.

"Usually, they will offer set packages but they may be able to throw in a product such as a Wi-Fi booster.”

Other top tips we've heard from expert hagglers include using the cheapest deal on the market as a benchmark when you're negotiating.

But remember to get the right product, not necessarily the cheapest one.
