Melania Trump: Expert discusses comments on Capitol riot

Melania Trump, a former model turned First Lady, penned along statement in response to the riot and to “gossip” about her. She wrote the adress to the American public, thanking them for her time in the post of FLOTUS.

Melania used the statement to condem the riot, which saw Trump fans storm the Capitol buildings to protest the results of last year’s US election.

She called for “healing” during this time, claiming she has been the traget of “attacks”.

There have be accusations rioters brought weapons and guns to the state building, while others took items from the building.

Arrests of those involved in the action have taken place and are still taking place.

Since, the House of Representatives has been confirmed to be proceeding with legislation to impeach Donald Trump for the second time.

In her statement Melania addressed the shocking moment in US history, claiming it has caused accusations against her.

She said: “I am disappointed and disheartened with what happened last week. I find it shameful that surrounding these tragic events there has been salacious gossip, unwarranted personal attacks, and false misleading accusations on me – from people who are looking to be relevant and have an agenda. This time is solely about healing our country and its citizens.

“It should not be used for personal gain.”

She added: “Make no mistake about it, I absolutely condemn the violence that has occurred on our Nation’s Capitol. Violence is never acceptable.”

Addressing suport for herself and her husband, she said: “It has been the honor of my lifetime to serve as your First Lady.

“I want to thank the millions of Americans who supported my husband and me over the past 4 years and shown the incredible impact of the American spirit.

“I am grateful to you all for letting me serve you on platforms which are dear to me.”

Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, an ex-aide, has criticised Melania’s response.

She told the Daily Mail: “Melania played the victim role as she blamed others, including me, for attacking her.

“It’s disappointing that she came out in response to my op-ed, instead of at her own volition with the feeling of a sense of responsibility and conviction as she claimed serving as the First Lady was an ‘honour of my lifetime’.”

Melania has not been seen in public since Christmas when she posted a video.

Melania Trump wore a monochrome look with a white shirt and black blazer.

In the video, Melania said: “The President and I want to wish every American a very Merry Christmas.”

She added: “This Christmas is different than years past, we are battling a global pandemic that has affected all of us.

“Yet, through this great challenge we have been inspired by the kindness and courage of citizens across this country.”
