Steph’s Packed Lunch is broadcasted on Channel 4 every weekday and features celebrity guests who chat and cook with Steph McGovern. But how did the presenter get to where she is today, and how much money has she made?

Steph McGovern has an estimated net worth of around £1.4million, according to celebrity sites.

It’s a whopping fortune that she has earned over the years by working as a journalist and a presenter for the UK’s biggest TV networks.

Before her career in British media, Steph was an engineer.

Born in Middlesborough, she studied Maths and Physics (as well as Design Technology and Business Studies) at sixth form in preparation for her engineering career.

At the young age of 19, Steph was awarded the prize of ‘Young Engineer for Britain’.

She was also a junior team member at Black & Decker, saving the American company £150,000 a year by improving its production techniques for its Leaf Hog garden vacuum cleaner.

Steph later studied Science Communication and Policy at University College of London.

After university, she gained work experience at the BBC on the Tomorrow’s Worl programme, before becoming a researcher in current affairs.

Steph later became the main producer for financial news on Radio Four’s Today programme, before becoming the producer for business news on the BBC’s One, Six, and Ten O’Clock news bulletins.

During her journalism and presenting career, Steph has also presented BBC Radio 5 Live’s Wake Up to Money, CBBC’s Money Pitch, BBC One’s Shop Well for Less, and Have I Got News For You.

She currently co-hosts the investigative journalism programme Watchdog, alongside Matt Allwright and Nikki Fox.

From 2010 to 2019, she was a regular presenter on BBC Breakfast.

Steph left BBC Breakfast in late 2019 to start a new show on Channel 4.

The Steph Show was at first filmed in front of a live audience at the beginning of 2020, but the pandemic meant that Steph had to continue the filming from her front room.

In September 2020, the show eventually launched in Channel 4 studios and became Steph’s Packed Lunch.

Filmed over lunchtime, Steph speaks to multiple celebrity guests about lifestyle, entertainment, and current affairs news.

As well as being a successful journalist and presenter, Steph is a former Irish dancer champion and still attends international competitions, where she helps to coach dancers.

Steph keeps her personal life relatively private, usually sharing only work-related posts on her social media.

However, in November 2019 she announced that she had given birth to a girl.

Steph lives with her daughter and partner in their home in Yorkshire.
