Two people died and two more were wounded Friday morning in a shooting at a municipal building in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The two victims were city employees, Winston-Salem City Manager Lee Garrity said in an email to the Associated Press. The injuries of the two others who were shot are non-life-threatening.

There is no ongoing threat, city spokesman Ed McNeal said.

Details of the situation were developing, and a news conference was expected at 2 p.m. ET, Police Chief William Penn Jr. told reporters.

Winston-Salem is home to about 245,000 people in the central part of the state.

The shooting comes one day after a 66-year-old resident of a senior apartment complex shot and killed one person and wounded two others before killing himself in Westerly, Rhode Island.
