Chelsea news: Avram Grant emerges in bookies' market to replace Frank Lampard as Thomas Tuchel leads race

AVRAM GRANT has emerged as an outsider with the bookies to be the next Chelsea manager and replace Frank Lampard.

Lampard is under increased pressure at Stamford Bridge and his future is rumoured to be in doubt after a tough run of results.

After a strong start this season, they've dropped to ninth position – ten points behind leaders Manchester United.

Chelsea have suffered four defeats in their last six Premier League outings and Lampard's future is looking increasingly perilous.

Former Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel is the current favourite to be the next Chelsea boss with Betfair.

His odds have been slashed from 3/1 to 2/1 in recent weeks.

The 47-year-old was sacked by PSG and replaced by Mauricio Pochettino despite boasting the highest win percentage in Ligue 1 history.

Six-time Serie A winner Massimiliano Allegri is second favourite at 3/1 and remains a free agent having left Juventus in May.

Leicester's Brendan Rodgers and former Chelsea striker Andriy Shevchenko follow next at 6/1 and 17/2 respectively with long-time France chief Didier Deschamps at 12/1.

Highly-rated Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is also available at 12/1 with Betfair.

Meanwhile Avram Grant is the bookies' outsider at 33/1.

If Grant were to get the job, this would be his second spell at Stamford Bridge after he was drafted in to replace Jose Mourinho in 2007.

Grant recently backed Lampard to prove the doubters wrong via an Instagram post.

He said: "About the current situation, I can say only this. You need to be strong when things are not going well, when things are going well everyone is a genius and knows what to do.

"What I can say to Frank and the others at the club is be patient, and more than this do whatever is necessary to do, that's for sure.

"Two things: never lose it even when things are going well, don't lose your fighting spirit at the highest level.

"And second, don't lose what you have here – you need to think right and look for solutions.

"If you do that, then everything will be OK because the quality is there and there is a potential like there was in my time."
