EVERTON have been linked with a number of signings for the upcoming transfer window as they look to improve on what was a disappointing season.

Betfair have revealed the three most likely players to arrive at Goodison Park with Burnley defender James Tarkowski the current bookies’ favourite.

The Toffees endured a forgettable season, following their top half finish in 2020-21 with a relegation battle, only surviving on the penultimate day of the season.

Frank Lampard, who took over as manager from Rafa Benitez in January, will be desperate to make some summer signings to improve his side for the new season.

The name most strongly linked with the Toffees is Tarkowski, the Burnley centre-back who suffered relegation on the final day of the season.

Everton conceded the fourth most goals out of any team in the Premier League so are looking to shore up their defence, while Burnley, despite suffering relegation, conceded fewer goals than Manchester United last season.

Tarkowski has been a stalwart at the back for the Clarets since signing from Brentford in 2016, playing over 200 times for the club and even earning two England caps.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at Burnley at the end of the month, so would be available to Everton for free.

Another name linked with a move to Goodison Park is young Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a spectacular breakthrough season with his boyhood club, racking up 19 goals and 9 assists on his way to helping Forest secure promotion to the Premier League for the first time since 1999.

The Wales international, who signed for the club as an 8-year-old, has just a year remaining on his current contract so the club may decide to sell him for a fee this summer rather than lose him on a free next summer if a new contract isn't signed.

Johnson was recently named EFL Young Player of the Season, an award previously won by the likes of Gareth Bale, Dele Alli and Ollie Watkins.

Everton have also been rumoured to be interested in signing Conor Gallagher from Chelsea this summer.

The midfielder spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Crystal Palace, and won the club's Player of the Year having notched eight goals and five assists from central midfield across the season.

The 22-year-old received his first England call up in November, and has been the subject of lots of transfer speculation for the upcoming summer.

It's thought that the Toffees would face competition the likes of Crystal Palace and West Ham for the midfielder's signature.
