GARY NEVILLE slammed Manchester United's owners, manager and players as "tone deaf" for going on a "global tour" following the Champions League exit.

The Red Devils crashed out of Europe with a home defeat to Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.

And with no game for 18 days until they host Leicester – due to FA Cup matches and the international break – plenty of personnel took advantage of the extra days off.

But rather than stay at Carrington hard at work on improving ahead of the closing stages of the race for fourth, United's staff clocked up the air miles instead.

Former defender Neville hit out at the club for their inability to read the room regarding the atmosphere and reaction around the club – especially following such an important defeat.

He wrote on Twitter: "I remember a time when United players, managers, executives wouldn’t be seen in their local Italian after a draw at home let alone getting knocked out of Europe.

"This last week we’ve seen a global tour of F1, concerts, cricket and UFC events.

"This lot are tone deaf!"

When challenged about them being allowed to go out and relax, Neville added: "I expect them to adapt to circumstances and go on holiday but quietly!"

Co-chairman Avram Glazer headed to Dubai to help raise the profile of cricket in the United Arab Emirates and the launch of a new competition in the Middle Eastern country.

But Neville shared a tweet from Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed, the chairman of the Dubai Sport Council, and wrote: "He [Glazer] must have stopped off on his way to Manchester for those fans meetings they promised post ESL!!

"United go out of the Champions League and he heads to Dubai to discuss cricket."

Glazer was then spotted queueing for a kebab at the Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick headed to the Caribbean to soak up the sun in Barbados and watch England's Test match with the West Indies.

And the players also made the most of some time off before many of them join up with their international sides.

Marcus Rashford, omitted from the England squad, headed to Dubai too.

There he caught up with pro boxer Regis Prograis after his win over Tyrone McKenna.
