A busy start to the day: Bronze medal for Clifford

Jaryd Clifford has picked up a bronze medal in the T13 1500m event to go with with his silver in the 5000m last week. What a fantastic race that was. The Aussie’s time of 3:54.69 was 13 seconds outside his world record he set earlier this year (3:41.34). Russian athlete Anton Kuliatin wins gold in 3:54.04, while Tunisia’s Rouay Jebabli takes the silver in 3:54.55. Clifford sat tight with the front pack and was a fraction off the pace with 400m to go. He surged down the back straight but just didn’t have enough in the legs. He still has the marathon to go on Sunday in what is a mega program.

What a Games for Darren Hicks

Darren Hicks was produced a brilliant performance in the men’s C2 time trial to clinch his first gold medal. In the 24km race, he smashed the rest of the field to win by one minute and 32 seconds. After a silver in the individual pursuit last week, this gold will mean so much to him given what he’s had to endure.
