A day after Whoopi Goldberg and Meghan McCain garnered attention for an argument they had on “The View,” the co-hosts are smoothing things over.
“Girl, please stop talking, please stop talking right now,” Goldberg called across the desk on Monday’s episode after co-hosts McCain and Sunny Hostin were talking over each other about Trump’s impeachment inquiry.
“No problem, I won’t talk to the rest of the show, no problem,” McCain responded with a laugh.
After more rebuttals and talking over each other, Goldberg cut to commercial.
During Tuesday’s episode of the talk show, Goldberg kicked things off by doing “a little clean-up.”
“Things get heated on this show… We’re really passionate. This is our jobs,” Goldberg said. “We come in, we talk to each other. Sometimes we’re not as polite as we could be. That’s just the way it is.”
She continued, “This is part of what we do. This is not an indication that women can’t sit around and talk, this is not an indication that we don’t know how to deal with each other on camera, this is happening in real time. … Don’t assume that we’re over here with butcher knives under the table.”
She insisted that everyone “calm down.”

McCain also reassured the audience that she and Goldberg “get along great.”
“I love you very much. I’ve loved you for a long time. You were good friends with my dad. We fight like we’re family. It’s all good,” she said. “Calm down, all of you.”
Before the show, McCain took to Twitter to seemingly comment on Monday’s episode, though not naming the show directly.
“Good morning – to all the fellow conservative ‘girls’ who won’t be quiet,” she captioned a GIF of “Game of Thrones” character Daenerys Targaryen.

Abby Huntsman chimed in, adding that it was a good thing there is debate on the show.
“Name another show on television that does this. That talks about the most controversial issues of the day with such different women. Different ages, different backgrounds, different times in their life,” she said.
Goldberg concluded the “clean-up” by saying this surely won’t be the last argument the show will see.
“We’re actually human beings having conversations that you don’t want to have. We’re having the conversations you can’t have, you’re scared of having – but the bottom line is, yeah, it’s gonna happen, and it’s probably going to happen again,” she said.
