She’ll be on the box this Christmas Eve in the festive special of BBC entertainment show I Can See Your Voice. But TV star Amanda Holden has admitted that she actually thinks Christmas Day “is always a bit of a let down”.

Asked what her favourite thing about the holiday season is, the 50 year old Britain’s Got Talent judge replied honestly.

She said: “For me, it’s the build up to Christmas that is so special and my favourite part. Switching on the lights. The music. Buying people presents. Hiding them! Drinks, dos, parties.”

Amanda, who is mum to girls Lexie and Hollie, with husband Chris Hughes, continued: “And then Christmas Day is always a bit of a let down! Boxing Day I’ve had enough, I’m thinking ahead to the New Year.”

Further giving fans an insight into her typical Christmas, Amanda explained that she’s received some very memorable gifts over the years – although she confessed some have been better than others.

She said: “My best presents always comes from Chris and are always in small boxes!"

"[But] my mum bought me a battery operated head scratcher one year because she said I had everything!”

Amanda added: “She said, what else could she get me? I said not that, I wanted socks! I donated it to the local charity shop. Another year, she bought me a bird cage full of lemons!”

However, this year Amanda has something else to look forward to as she’s bringing entertainment series I Can See Your Voice back to our screens, alongside her fellow “celebrity investigators” Alison Hammond and Jimmy Carr.

Teasing what’s to come in the show, hosted by Paddy McGuiness, she said: “The response to series one was completely overwhelming and unexpected. So many young people I work with were glued to the show every week.”

“I’m thrilled we are back with not only a Christmas special but also a second series next year, too! It’s the perfect show to watch over Christmas and there is everything in there that you’d expect.”

In fact, the judges got so into the festive spirit during filming that they decided to join in the fun with the contestants.

Amanda revealed: “We are dressed up to the nines! We have Christmas songs. Paddy, Alison, Jimmy and I are even doing a bit of a skit.”

“The whole show feels like the old days when the whole family sat down and watched TV and ate and drank together.”

The Christmas special of the show will once again see Amanda, Alison and Jimmy – plus special guest star Leona Lewis – trying to work out which of the contestants has the voice of an angel, and which can’t hold a tune at all.

For one night only, sports presenter Gabby Logan will join forces with the player hoping to bag £10,000 to see if they can work out the difference between the singers and the imitators.
