Things haven’t been great between Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) in Emmerdale this year and it looks like they are set to get worse before they can potentially get better.

Chas and Paddy have already been struggling in their relationship with their partnership tested to new limits during lockdown and then to make matters worse, Paddy had Kirin Kotecha (Rish Shah) arrested.

With Chas already struggling to forgive Paddy for his role in Kirin’s arrest, her new friendship with Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) couldn’t have come at a worse time – especially as there is clearly chemistry between the two.

But are things bad enough between Chas and Paddy that they would end their union for good? And if so, will Al have a part to play in their split?

Are Chas and Paddy splitting up in Emmerdale over Al?

Paddy and Chas have been together for over a decade now and have had many ups and downs during that time.

Speaking about how Paddy would react if Chas did have an affair, actor Dominic Brunt – who plays Paddy – said: ‘ I don’t know. I have no idea. You can only imagine it. I think he’d be utterly devastated because he’s wanted to start a family – he started a family very late on in life so I think he’d be utterly devastated.’

Although we don’t know for sure at this stage what the future holds for Chas and Paddy and whether their relationship will survive this latest test, what Dominic did reveal is that Chas doesn’t go through with cheating on him but her actions still cause Paddy to seriously contemplate their relationship:

‘I think he knows that it’s not an affair, it’s just that he hears the intention that’s being laid out when she suggests they go away together. So he’s devastated by that even though he knows nothing’s actually happened, he’s aware of where they are in that relationship.’

Viewers will have to stay tuned to see how Chas and Al’s friendship impacts her relationship with Paddy and if the couple can come through this latest challenge.

Emmerdale continues tonight, Monday October 5, at 7pm on ITV.
