Every evening The Chase contestants come up against one of six top quizzers and the players usually have someone they would love to take on. However, when asked who he would like to compete against, contestant Gareth insisted he couldn’t play with Anne Hegerty. His reason why left host Bradley Walsh feeling rather uncomfortable.
Teasing who the chaser could be, Bradley began: “The Menace, so smooth he makes Brad Pitt look like Arm Pitt.
“Or maybe you’re playing the Sinnerman, there he is, a stand up comic and doctor.
“Maybe they’ll be playing the Dark Destroyer, his head is extra shiny today because he stuck it out of a window going through a car wash.
“Or maybe it will be the Vixen. If she was Cleopatra the ass’ milk would be UHT.
“Or are we playing the Beast, he’s a big fan of all the apple products. That’s crumble, pie and turnover.
“Who do you want to take on?”
“Honestly, anyone but Anne because she reminds me too much of my mother,” Gareth confessed.
Bradley was stunned by the revelation, asking: “Really?”
“Yeah, and I’d be afraid of calling her mum during the show,” Gareth added.
Bradley laughed: “That’s the first time anyone has said that over the years.
“It’s always been my teacher or my grandmother but my mother, wow!”
Fortunately for Gareth he was up against Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett on Friday evening.

Gareth managed to accrue £6,000 in his cash builder and successful outrun the chaser in the head-to-head round.
He was joined in the Final Chase by Nicki and Julie who also both outran The Beast.
However, after only answering 17 questions correctly, the chaser quickly caught up with them and they went home penniless.
It came after new chaser Darragh ‘The Menace’ Ennis smashed his debut episode.
He managed to catch up to Rachel and Clint who had managed to win £10,000 in their cash builder rounds.
Despite stumbling on five questions, Darragh successfully caught up with the pair and snatched their jackpot prize with seven seconds to spare.
Darragh said of his win: “Well, I’m a little bit relieved as it looked for a moment I couldn’t catch them.”
The Chase airs weeknights on ITV at 5pm.
