‘Cheer’ Star Jerry Harris Arrested on Child Porn Charge

“Cheer” star Jerry Harris was arrested Thursday on a charge that he enticed a 13-year-old boy to send him explicit photos and videos.

Harris, 21, starred on the Netflix docuseries about a Texas cheer squad. According to federal prosecutors, he began contacting a 13-year-old boy on Snapchat in December 2018.

The two exchanged explicit photos until the relationship ended in March 2020, according to the complaint. Harris was interviewed by authorities on Monday and admitted that he had exchanged the photos with the boy, according to the complaint.

Harris faces one count of producing child pornography, and is due to make an initial court appearance in Chicago on Thursday afternoon.

According to the complaint, the boy’s mother discovered the images on the boy’s phone earlier this year. When confronted, the boy said that Harris had requested the images.

The boy also said that there had been one in-person encounter with Harris. According to the document, Harris solicited oral sex from the boy in a bathroom during a cheerleading event in February 2019. The boy refused and left the bathroom to rejoin his team, according to the document.

According to the complaint, Harris admitted that the encounter occurred as the boy described.

The complaint alleges that Harris also sought a second encounter with the boy at another cheerleading competition.

According to the complaint, Harris also sought images from the boy’s twin brother, but the brother refused.

The complaint includes screenshots from social media applications. In one chat in 2018, Harris asks the boy “Hey! how old are you.” The boy responds: “13 lmao.” Harris then replies: “Oh ok have any pics?”

Harris also admitted to having sex with a 15-year-old at a cheer event in 2019, according to the complaint.

Harris’ rep didn’t immediately respond to Variety‘s request for comment. Netflix declined to comment.
