Coronation Street 's Robert Preston star Tristan Gemmill has wowed fans after he shared his very dramatic makeover for his panto role.

The actor, 54, is playing the Sheriff in the production of Robin Hood at the Theatre Royal Nottingham, joining the likes of Matthew Kelly and Matt Terry on stage.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, Tristan gave his 19.5K followers a look at his dramatic makeover for his role in the star-studded production.

Posing with a long brown wig, beard and eye make-up, Tristan penned: "The Sheriff is in the house!!"

The actor's followers were quick to react to the unrecognisable transformation as they flocked to the comments section.

One person said: "Absolutely incredible" followed by clapping emojis.

A different account put: "Wow!"

Another follower commented: "That is one bad a** looking sheriff."

While a different fan added: "Great hair Tristan."

Tristan's character in Coronation Street, Robert, was killed off the ITV soap in a dramatic festive storyline in 2019.

Tweeting at the time, the actor said: "Folks, I just wanted to let you know that the time has come for me to hang up the chef's gear and head for pastures new.

"There is still a lot of drama & shenanigans to come for Robert but I will be leaving @itvcorrie later in the year."

This isn't the first time Tristan has unveiled a dramatic hairdo and he dyed his signature silver locks dark for his role in Harold Pinter's The Birthday Party in 2020.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly at the time, the presenter said: "You've gone from being a silver fox back to the dark hair, for a very good reason…"

To which Tristan admitted: "Yes, a couple of people have noticed that. I wanted to try something different for the play I wanted to have a particular look. So I've opted for this for the play. And who knows if I like it then I might keep it!"
