BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker admitted that he's feeling the "pressure" to get his co-star Louise Minchin a great leaving gift.

On Tuesday's show, co-hosts Dan and Louise fronted the BBC news programme like usual, but things quickly turned awkward on the show when the topic changed to Louise's leaving gift.

It comes as Louise announced she was leaving BBC Breakfast earlier this year, sparking an emotional reaction from Dan who paid tribute to her on social media.

However, it looks like Dan might be in for some stiff competition when it comes to getting Louise the best leaving gift, because some of his fellow BBC colleagues have already delighted her with their own presents for the anchor.

At the end of Dan and Louise's breakfast show, they cut away to Morning Live hosts Gethin Jones and Janette Manrara who appeared to preview what they had coming up on Morning Live.

Live on air, Louise was delighted as she wanted to say thanks to Gethin and Janette for buying her swimming goggles as a leaving gift.

She said: "Can I say thank you to you both for your very thoughtful present? Swimming goggles, couldn't be better."

She then revealed that she had opened the present early, saying: "I've opened it already."

It's no secret that Louise is an avid swimmer, and her Twitter bio reads: "I like to swim, bike and run a lot".

Dan explained that he gave her Gethin and Janette's gift today but she couldn't wait to open it.

Dan said: "Well this is the problem right, I gave it to her today and I said 'this is a lovely present from Gethin and Janette and the whole team at Morning Live and she just opened it straight away."

Gethin replied: "It's just to say 'good luck'. I know you're going to be doing a lot of triathlons after you finish so we're sending you lots of love."

Dan then cheekily quipped: "You've put the pressure on for my pressie tomorrow now! [sic]", which left Gethin and Janette looking rather apologetic as Gethin said: "Oh!"

Janette then joked that all Dan needs to do is dance really well on his Strictly debut – as he's set to star on the BBC ballroom show this Saturday (18th September).

Janette added: "Sorry, just dance really well at the weekend – it'll be fine."

Dan joked: "Oh, that's my gift to the world, that is,", leaving the Morning Live hosts in fits of laughter as they cut back to BBC Breakfast.

BBC Breakfast airs every day at 6am on BBC One.
