Emmerdale viewers have called for soap bosses to make their new dishy doctor a permanent character after he impressed viewers on his debut.
During a recent episode of the ITV soap, Moira and Cain Dingle (Natalie J. Robb and Jeff Hordley) were separately updated on Kyle Winchester’s (Huey Quinn) condition.
The little boy is in hospital after nearly freezing to death alongside aunt Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper), but has fortunately gone on to recover from the ordeal.
And the doctor that delivered the medical updates went down a storm with viewers, as many diehard soap fans begged producers to make him a permanent character on the show – with many commenting on his likeness to Cain.
One Emmerdale viewer wrote on Twitter: ‘Hey @emmerdale keep this Dr actor! He looks a younger version of Cain! & Smiles so maybe a nice version.’
Another agreed, adding: “Thought it was Cain in scrubs at first glance, very easy on the eye.”
While a third commented: “I’m glad I’m not the only one who thought that.”
Others asked where they recognised the actor that played him from, as the credits at the end of the soap revealed his name is Neil Ditt.
Neil has previously starred on the small screen in a number of shows, such as stepping into the shoes of a police officer in EastEnders in 2019 called DS James Alexander.
The actor’s other credits include popular medical drama Holby City and some TV movies.

Neil wasn’t the only new face to feature on last night’s episode of Emmerdale (Tuesday 4 January).
Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick)’s son Johnny also returned to the village, but eagle-eyed fans pointed out that he’s now played by another actor.
Johnny was previously played by a young actor called Luca Hepworth, but he’s now been replaced by soap newcomer Jack Jennings.
Pointing out the new cast member, fans flocked to social media to give him a warm welcome.
One said: “Little (new) Johnny is back with his mummy Ness….. They are so adorable #Emmerdale.”
While another went on to say: “Wonderful to see Vanessa and Johnny back in the village where they belong!”
