Emmerdale legend and writer, Sharon Marshall, has announced that she is leaving the hit ITV soap after six years.
The This Morning soap expert, 51, took to Twitter last week to reveal that she is off to "writing pastures new" and will miss the "fabulous" team.
Sharing a picture of herself outside The Woolpack, Sharon penned: "My last Emmerdale is on tonight at 7.30pm. Off to writing pastures new now but it’s been an absolute joy and privilege to play in the Dales for six years. I’ll hugely miss the fabulous team" with a heart emoji.
Emmerdale fans and Sharon's colleagues were quick to share their well-wishes to the writer, saying she would be missed on the ITV soap.
Samantha Giles, who plays Bernice Blackstock, wrote: "You’ll be missed [kiss emoji] lots of love and luck in your new adventures xxxx."
Elsewhere, one fan wrote: "Gutted to hear you’re leaving emmerdale, good luck for future venture."
A different account put: "You will be missed love your episodes."
Another follower wrote: "aww you'll be incredibly missed [sad emoji] loved you work!! x."
While a different viewer added: "You are an awesome writer, most of my favourite episodes were yours. Thank you. Best of luck for the future!"
It comes as Emmerdale star Fiona Wade broke her silence on quitting her Priya Sharma role on the hit ITV soap after 11 years.
It was reported in October that Fiona, 43, was leaving her role of Priya after 11 years on the soap to pursue other acting opportunities.
And now Fiona has discussed her reason to leave the soap after first joining in 2011, admitting it is a "sad" decision.
Speaking to Digital Spy, she said: "It was one of the hardest decisions I've had to make. Leaving my Emmerdale family is a big thing and it wasn't easy filming my last scenes.
"When you've been somewhere for that long and that's your every day, it's hard and feels sad. But as every actor knows, you need to challenge yourself and that's very important too."
She added: "There are so many blessings that come your way when you're in a show like Emmerdale. To be given a character that you can make yours, to have fantastic writers that enable you to grow in this amazing character. Plus, the friends you make and the experiences you have is invaluable."
It comes as Emmerdale spoilers have confirmed that Fiona's final scenes as Priya will air this week as the character faces a dramatic exit on the hit ITV soap.
Emmerdale continues weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV and ITVX.
