Fans of the original The Winx Club animated series were thrilled to learn it was being adapted as a fantasy drama for Netflix, making its big debut last year. The streaming service quickly renewed Fate: The Winx Saga for a second series as a result of its popularity the first time around. There was a new face welcomed to the cast for season two of The Winx Saga, someone many fans of the original show was missing from the first lot of episodes.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Fate: The Winx Saga.

In The Winx Club, one of the main fairies in the series is Flora, the potion expert of the group at Alfea boarding school.

Sadly, she didn’t make an appearance in season one of the Netflix show but was briefly mentioned by Terra Harvey (played by Eliot Salt) who revealed Flora (Paulina Chavez) was her cousin.

Ensuring subscribers were satisfied, Flora came into the show at the start of series two, bringing a new energy to The Winx Saga and completing the gang at last.

It wasn’t the easiest experience for actress Chavez though as she struggled with confidence.

Flora has no problem with being the centre of attention, unlike her cousin Terra and the real-life actress Chavez.

So it was at times an uncomfortable role to play for the 20-year-old star at times as she had to quickly adjust.

Chavez explained to Express.co.uk: “As Paulina, it was intimidating, coming out of quarantine and everything, I became more shy and introverted.

“Because Flora is very confident and she really owns her room, that’s something I really had to embody and know the body language so that she is that person.

“That was difficult because I’m shy and I’m in a room quiet and she really navigates it.”

Chavez added: “So that was difficult and also just finding a sweet spot for Flora and who she is really.

“It was all discovering and multiple takes, trying different takes to find out what works better.”

While Chavez was dealing with her self-confidence behind the scenes, her character Flora was at hand to boost cousin Terra’s.

This wasn’t the only way Flora was able to help out the group as she played a key role in the grand finale.

Flora had to try and lure the Scrapers away so her friends could attack Sebastian (Eanna Hardwicke) and so put her potions knowledge to the test.

She created a poison so that when the creatures sucked out her powers, they would instantly be killed.

The plan worked and the gang was able to put an end to Sebastian but Flora was left with physical scars.

Series two left fans unsure if Flora had lost her powers for good and how she is going to deal with the trauma going forward.

Unfortunately, the future so far is looking unclear for Fate: The Winx Saga.

Netflix has neither renewed or cancelled the fantasy drama following season two’s release.

But given its global popularity, it does seem likely that The Winx Saga will return for more episodes in the future.

Fate: The Winx Saga is available to watch on Netflix.
