Helen Skelton has revealed that her mum has moved in with her to help out with her children as her work increases.

The Countryfile presenter announced that she was splitting from her husband Richie Myler of nine years with whom she shares three children Ernie, six, Louis, five and Elsie Kate who is just over six months old.

The 38-year-old opened up to Lorraine Kelly about juggling family life and returning to work following the split.

Lorraine, 62, began: “Helen it’s so good to see you, you’ve had a bit of a rough time I know, but the best way to get over stuff is to just get out there again isn’t it, out there working.”

The former Blue Peter presenter began: “I think anybody in my position would say the same, I’ve got three small children and a very large dog as you can hear.”

She dashed off-screen to silence her barking family dog, Spider-Man as Lorraine commented: “Kids and dogs, your life is like that and you’re used to it, you’re used to the chaos!”

Helen sighed as she revealed that her Mum had come to stay for the week to help out with her young family and work her “Granny magic” so she could focus on work.

“It has been uncharacteristically calm around here this morning,” Helen explained, “because I’m working this week my Mum has come to stay for the week as she doesn’t live near.”

“She got the kids off to school, as Monday morning when you’ve got kids to get to school is just – it’s the same drill everyday but somehow it’s always chaos!

“Get the socks on, get their shoes on, where’s their school bags so Mum’s in control but she forgot to put her Granny magic on the dog there, sorry!”

Lorraine was very understanding and empathised that she’s glad that Helen has her Mum on hand to help her out.

She added: “It’s great that you’ve got that support and that back up so you can go and do what you do best.”

Tonight, the mother of three returns to Summer on the Farm on Channel 5, which she admits is “not really like work.”

“I get my face painted, someone makes my tea, I talk outloud and get to play with animals so it’s not really like work,” she joked.

The last time Helen appeared on the show in December for Christmas on the Farm, she was heavily pregnant with her youngest daughter Elsie, who was born only days after filming.

Elsie was only four months old when she announced that she and her husband were splitting up. Taking to Instagram, Helen penned: "Very sad to say that Richie and I are no longer a couple. He has left the family home.

“We will be doing our best to co parent our small children." She finished the message with two broken heart emojis.

Lorraine ended the conversation by saying she was “so glad” to see Helen “looking so well, so happy” before calling her “a woman after my own heart.”

Summer on the Farm is back tonight at 8pm on Channel 5.
