I’m A Celeb: Joe Swash and Dean Gaffney take on trial

Joe Swash won the 2008 edition of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and his career skyrocketed.

The former EastEnders star has since turned to presenting and was a staple in the I’m A Celeb chat shows which used to air alongside previous series.

He also met and married 2010 I’m A Celeb winner, Stacey Solomon, whom he has three children with.

The couple also co-parent their three sons from previous relationships, and regular Instagram user Stacey frequently shares updates about their idyllic family life in their countryside cottage.

ITV has revealed a clip from Monday’s episode will see Joe consumed with emotion as he reflects on how his initial stint on the show at just 26 changed his life.

The 41-year-old will become overwhelmed in scenes to air on Monday’s show as he credits the jungle with giving him “his wife” as well as his children and career.

In a candid confession, Joe admits: “Honestly, I genuinely feel like I’m the biggest winner ever from anyone who’s done this show. It gave me my wife, my kids, a career for over a decade.”

In the Bush Telegraph, he adds: “I find it hard to talk about the jungle without getting emotional.

“I wear my heart on my sleeve anyway. You’re going to have to bear with me.”

Speaking in camp later, he continues: “Growing up, all I wanted to be was a dad and have a family. The jungle came along and I met my wife in the jungle.”

Filmed last year, Joe and Stacey’s youngest daughter, Belle, hadn’t yet been born.

He explained: “I have two amazing kids, me and Stacey have had since we’ve been in the jungle.

“I feel like I’ve won this already. I don’t know where I would be without it.

“I’d just be that dude that was on EastEnders years ago. Now, I’m Stacey Solomon’s husband.”

He goes on to say: “I feel very blessed, very lucky. It was my chance to come back and say thank you.

“You pulled me through some very dark times and gave me everything I ever wanted.”

I’m A Celebrity… South Africa continues on Monday at 9pm on ITV.
