JAMES Corden has teased details about the highly-anticipated Friends reunion episode, hinting that the original cast won't be acting.

Appearing on BBC evening talkshow The One Show, the 42-year-old Late Late Show host said "the whole gang" would return, but not how we may have expected.

Quizzed on his involvement, James confirmed he would be making an appearance on Friends: The Reunion, which airs in the US this month.

TV host Alex Jones asked him whether or not he would be "playing a character" in the final pilot of the iconic sitcom.

Appearing live from his American home, the Gavin & Stacey star said he would star alongside Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and many more celebrities.

It was then James shocked fans by revealing that "the whole gang" would be coming back together to "talk about Friends" in the show.

"It isn't like an episode of Friends, they're not playing the characters, the whole gang are coming back together and talking about Friends," he told the cameras.

"I can't tell you masses because I don't know a huge amount about it," James added. "There's lots of people in it and it's very much a nostalgic look back at the show.

"Those six actors getting back together and talking about, you know, the phenomena that the show was and I'm just in it."

James' admission comes shortly after the reunion special was finally given a date to air after more than a YEAR of delays due to Covid-19.

HBO Max have revealed that Friends: The Reunion will debut on May 27 after releasing the first teaser trailer for the special episode.

Exactly one year after the original air date, production of the special had been delayed on multiple occasions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

While it was due to be filmed in February 2020, the cast were unable to safely get together until April – ahead of the upcoming premiere this month.

Original cast members Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer will return to the screen.

The one-off episode was even filmed on the comedy's original sound stage, Stage 24, at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank, California.

If that wasn't exciting enough, last week The Sun revealed how producers roped in some of the world's biggest stars for cameo appearances.

Justin Bieber filmed scenes wearing Ross Geller’s famous “Spudnik” potato costume from eighth-season episode The One With The Halloween Party.

Alongside James Cordon, other guests are set to include David Beckham, Cara Delevingne, Lady Gaga and Reese Witherspoon.

Last month, fans had their first glimpse of Monica's restored apartment, as the set designer from the original run, Greg Grande, returned in order to perfect the aesthetics.

Designer Greg took to Instagram to share a teaser snap of the set, writing: "Ssssh, something's happening, deja vu… coming alive once again."

The original apartment set was the show's staple, with the majority of scenes taking place there or across the hall in Chandler's place.
