Lucifer season four only hit Netflix yesterday (May 8) with 10 episodes for fans to binge in one go. The drama has been on a tumultuous ride over the last 12 months after getting cancelled by FOX before Netflix picked it up following a global campaign by fans. Now that season four has debuted on Netflix, many fans are already casting their minds forward and wondering about a possible season five.
Will there be another series of Lucifer?
The short answer is that we just don’t know at this stage because it’s too early to say either way.
Netflix dropped Lucifer season four on May, 8 and will be looking at viewing figures before making a decision.
The streaming platform is notoriously secretive about its ratings but has previously stated it considers a show or film watched if 70 percent is completed.
So if enough fans watch at least seven of the 10 episodes, we could see another season.
HOW TO WATCH LUCIFER SEASON 4 ONLINE
Interestingly, season four of Lucifer was dropped on a Wednesday rather than on a Friday – which is usually when Netflix drops its big Originals.
Lucifer may have been released mid-week because it was previously a FOX show that was picked up by Netflix rather than being a true Original from the streamer.
Sadly, there is no data available to show whether dropping a show at a certain point in the week has an impact on the viewing figures.
But given the strong worldwide fanbase, Lucifer is in good stead and could be returning.
Any decision from Netflix is likely to be made in the next few months.

When will Lucifer season 5 be released on Netflix?
If Lucifer does get the green light, season five could be out at in May 2020 at the earliest with another 10 episodes.
The Netflix release date as always will be dependent on if and when Lucifer gets the go-ahead.
Season five is most likely to be dropped all at once as per Netflix Originals.
Who is in the cast of Lucifer season 5?
A potential season five is likely to see the return of the core cast led by British actor Tom Ellis as the titular Lucifer Morningstar.
Lauren German as LAPD homicide detective Chloe Decker, who is Lucifer’s crime-solving partner and potential love interest, could be joining him.
Other cast members very likely for a comeback are Kevin Alejandro as LAPD officer Dan Espinoza, D.B. Woodside as angel Amenadiel,
Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen, Rachael Harris as therapist Linda Martin, and Aimee Garcia as forensics officer Ella Lopez.
There will also be more guest stars next season with new villains and victims, whom Lucifer and the rest of the LAPD will encounter as they crack murders.
LUCIFER SEASON 4 ENDING EXPLAINED
What will happen in Lucifer season 5?
WARNING: This section contains spoilers from Lucifer season 4
Lucifer returned to hell in the final episode of season four, so a follow-up could see him making a comeback with a potential time-jump and possibly new characters.
Alternatively, the series could see Chloe and others venturing into the depths of hell to find Lucifer and trying to bring him back to Earth.
The show could also see the return of Eve (Inbar Lavi), who left at the end of season four to find herself.
Baby Charlie, the son of Amenadiel and Dr Linda could also have a part to play in any future seasons given the infant is half-angel.
