Lucifer fans were delighted in June when not only the season five release date was announced but the show was also brought back from cancellation once again. Season six was officially teased by Netflix who promised it was the “final final” season this time around. Now the showrunners of the hit devilish drama have dropped a huge hint about when it will be back.
When will Lucifer season 6 air?
The announcement Lucifer would not be ending with season five, as previously announced, was met with great excitement.
And now fans have even more news about the upcoming season after the showrunners teased more about its future.
On June 13, both showrunners revealed to fans how they were back in the writer’s room for the upcoming season.
Ildy Modrovich tweeted to her followers a picture of them all on virtual meeting preparing for the new series.

She wrote: “Hello from the @LUCIFERwriters room! We’re back… and clearly still dorks.
“Here we are pretending to be frozen. Because that generates good story. #Lucifer #LuciferSeasin6 [sic] #LuciferNetflix.”
While her fellow co-showrunner Joe Henderson also posted a snap of the writers together once again.
He wrote: “Season 6 #Lucifer writers room is a GO! (also apparently I need to powder this head of mine).”
Among those pictured include Chris Rafferty, Julia Fontana, Mira Z Barnum and Aiyana White.
The tweets were certainly exciting news for fans of the show who are anxious for more of the series to land.
Although, while this means pre-production has started, there is no news yet about when exactly the season will air on Netflix.
This is partly because before Lucifer season six is released, both parts one and two of season five will need to drop on Netflix.

Part one is on its way and will feature eight new episodes coming out on August 21.
Although, part two of season five might face a bigger delay as it has not yet finished filming.
When coronavirus COVID-19 caused a halt on filming, the show’s creators were only half way through the season finale.
Therefore, viewers will have to wait until this is complete to get any idea when the final eight episodes of the show will be released.
When season six was in its initial talking stages, Deadline reported how it was planned to begin filming in September.

Journalist Nellie Andreeva reported on May 29: “The plan had been for Lucifer to go back into production in September on season six, though the show will need to first finish filming season five, which was impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
“I hear the show had four days from season five left to shoot when production was suspended in March.”
Whether this still goes ahead as planned and if the show will just go straight from filming the end of season five into series six, is all still up in the air.
Either way, Express.co.uk will keep viewers updated as soon as any more news is revealed.
