Allegedly harmless Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) wouldn’t harm a fly – or perhaps that’s what Emmerdale want us to think.
In an interview with Claire King, who plays ice queen Kim Tate in the soap, she reveals that Kim has ruled Lydia out of being her poisoner – which could be a telltale sign that she is underestimating her housekeeper.
Lydia has been under a lot of strain lately and while she has acted as a confidante to Kim, could she be secretly disgusted with how her boss treats other people – and be making her pay for her crimes?
Lydia is always one for justice – so is she trying to teach Kim a lesson?
Claire mused: ‘She’s ruled out Lydia at this point because she drank it and just seemed totally innocent of it. Also Lydia has been a real support and help to Kim recently when she passed out. So yes she has ruled Lydia out.’
So what happens next after Kim’s lunch date plot to try and lure out her poisoner by claiming that she is preparing to hand over the reins of Home Farm?
Claire told us: ‘They never thought they would see Kim Tate actually retire but she convinces them that this is it. She wants to kick back and enjoy herself from now on. Now she has made her millions.
‘She wants somebody to take over the day to day running of the business although I’m sure she will keep her fingers in pies. She convinces them she wants to retire and give it all up.
‘It’s now a waiting game to see who she can flush out and discover who it is that is doing it to her.
‘The lunch party is just the start of it. I’m sure there will be many other tests to try and test each one of them. Who will fail?’
Could it be Lydia?
