Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) returns home in Emmerdale next week, and he’s wastes little time in telling Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) just how grateful he is that she chose to stay with him.

The soap mainstay, as viewers know, suffered a life-changing stroke several weeks ago, and he’s been recovering in hospital ever since.

Emotional scenes on Monday (April 25), however, see him leave the hospital and return home, as Rhona has got the house all ready for him.

Rhona, April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan) and Mary (Louise Jameson) start to work out a way of moving forward, but soon there are challenges, as emotions runs high.

The above clip, taken from next Tuesday’s (April 26) edition of the ITV soap, sees Mary tell Rhona not to feel ‘guilty’ over a previous conversation they’d had, one in which she voiced her frustration over the situation.

Little do they know, however, that Marlon has heard every word they said. With Mary out of earshot, Marlon speaks to Rhona, telling her that he heard her the previous day, discussing whether or not she would leave.

‘It’s okay!’, he says. ‘I’m grateful for you staying’.

Rhona is quick to explain what happened, adding context to the situation, telling Marlon that she was referring to another conversation she’d had with her mum, who she claims was being typical Mary at the time.

‘She was pointing out that you being at home was going to take a bit of work’, she says. ‘That’s all! But I knew that already.’

Rhona smiles at Marlon, taking his hand and says that looking after him was never ‘going to be an issue’ for her.

Emmerdale airs these scenes on Tuesday April 26 at 7:30pm on ITV.
