Matt Hancock has reportedly got a habit which will infuriate his celebrity campmates in the jungle of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! After his experience on SAS Who Dares Wins, a TV insider has claimed the former health secretary is greedy when it comes to food. Since the MP has signed up for the latest series of the ITV show to a backdrop of criticism from fellow politicians and the general public.

Controversy has followed the Conservative MP since he was named as the latest famous face to join the jungle in the ITV series.

Some viewers and critics have voiced their anger at his appearance, but his fellow celebrities may also be annoyed too if reports from his experience in Channel 4’s challenging show are to be believed.

A TV source said: “Matt got a reputation during filming for Celeb SAS: Who Dares Wins for being greedy and selfish when it came to the food.

“They all had to share military style rations, but Matt always got up first and helped himself to big portions, leaving less for the others – understandably this seriously annoyed his cast mates.”

They continued: “A few of them spoke up about it and pulled him up for his greedy behaviour – they felt it was inconsiderate and thoughtless, especially as they were all hungry and had limited food.

“Food is always a contentious issue in camp, so tempers will really fly if he hogs the grub and doesn’t think about other people.”

“It will be tense for those in camp, but it will make great TV and producers are hoping it all kicks off,” the source told The Sun.

Hancock filmed episodes for the Channel 4 endurance show earlier in the year and the effects of that show are being felt now.

Another source revealed how the Tory MP could miss out on certain trials due to a condition he suffered in the show.

They said: “When he was filming SAS Who Dares Wins in October, Matt got trench foot.

“In fact, a lot of the cast did. It can take up to six months to recover from that, so any water-based tasks or swimming trials would be bad news for his feet.”

Express.co.uk contacted a representative from SAS Who Dares Wins to confirm the trench foot claims.

When the West Suffolk MP confirmed he will be heading into the jungle, he was immediately suspended by the Conservative Party.

Simon Hart, who is responsible for suspensions in the party, confirmed the news.

In a statement he said: “Following a conversation with Matt Hancock, I have considered the situation and believe this is a matter serious enough to warrant suspension of the whip with immediate effect.”

Despite some quarters, including Piers Morgan lambasting his decision, Hancock has defended his reality series move.

The West Suffolk MP declared: “Some may think I’ve lost my marbles or had one too many drinks.

“Swapping the comfortable surroundings of Westminster and West Suffolk for the extreme conditions of the Australian outback, going where there will be few creature comforts, not enough food, and a load of physical tasks involving snakes, spiders and plenty of other creepy-crawlies.

“While there will undoubtedly be those who think I shouldn’t go, I think it is a great opportunity to talk directly to people who aren’t always interested in politics. Even if they care very much about how our country’s run.”

He declared: “It’s our job as politicians to go to where the people are – not to sit in ivory towers in Westminster.”
